I usually just look at mom's belly as if to say: "Really? The nerve!"

But sometimes I stay put and don't even mind it. I take those kicks like a man. That's when mom tells me I'm gonna be a big brother, which always makes my head a little bigger than before...

Oh Burger, we are so much alike! I wake up snuggled up in my rent's bed sometimes... I sneak up there! My momma's expecting too and her belly kicks me sometimes, so I growl. Do you have that problem Burger?

My parents used the positive reinforcement approach. They literally carried me around to make sure I didn't go on the floor and then when they thought I needed to go (like after I first woke up, a half hour after I ate, etc) they would whisk me outside and wait for me to pee on the grass. As soon as I did that I got a treat. Every time. Immediately after I finished. It was easy to see that every time I peed on the green stuff I got a treat so pretty soon thereafter I would wait by the door to go do my business and get my reward. Hope it helps!

burger,

help! my husband and i just rescued a little three month old pooch. but, he seems utterly confused from his time in the shelter that he is supposed to go to the bathroom outside! we are currently attempting to crate train him. but he is still going to the bathroom in his crate and around the house. how did your parents train you? do you have any advice?

thanks!

I'm right there with you Burger! When mom left this morning I was all comfy on her quilt but let her scratch me under my chin (she calls it my goozle). I think she is quite jealous that I get to sleep past dawn most of the time.
