Treats: Are Those For Me?

What’s wrong with this picture?
Why are all of those yummy-delicious-oh-my-goodness-I-must-have-one-now treats in that container and not in my belly? Maybe I’ll get one once I finish being a good boy and telling you about this dog treat isolation chamber that you can win from Whitewash Sundries (the generously treated me with one- but it’s holding my goodies hostage!).
Just like the stuff my parents are giving away on their blog from Whitewash Sundries, this hand-etched stuff on glass is pretty cool (except for the fact that all my treats are highly visible so they taunt me as I stare at them longingly). Anyway, for this dog-themed giveaway, they put the first initial and silhouette of the dog you intend to tease with this look-but-don’t-touch canister. Cool right? And yes, also a bit cruel. Just be sure to remove a tasty morsel or two and give it to your four-legged friend on the regular.

GIMME GIMME! Hey Burger! I love your blog…my mom reads it to me every day! My favorite treats aren’t really treats at all- it’s really people food that my parents fork over pretty easily! See, I love, love, love pizza crust, and if I rest my cute little (ok, big, Golden Retriever) head on the table while they’re eating, and look at them with those sad eyes, they always give in. Score! I’m betting you use this trick on your parentals too?! We’ll keep this lil’ secret between us. Wink, wink! I can’t really keep pizza crust in this cool container, but I would keep my other favorites- Pupperoni’s, Beggin’ Strips, and Busy Bones! Yummy in my tummy!
GIMME GIMME! My Lola’s favourite treats are Pupperoni’s. She goes crazy when she sees them, and she will “sit up pretty” for one (or two). Her little miniature dachshund silhouette would look so sweet on one of these great jars!

Gimme Gimme. My dog goes nuts for carrots. He has to sit and lie down for a treat but he is a stubborn old beagle so sometimes he gets them for being cute.
GIMME GIMME! Hey Burger, it’s me Martini! I love when my mom gives me treats! I have 2 favorites – one is in the shape of hamburgers and they come from the petco treat bar and the other is liver treats by Hollywood stars (can be found at walmart)! All I do is give my mommy and daddy sad puppy dog eyes and tons of kisses on the face and they spoil me with treats! Hey Burger, we love you and read your blog everday. We probably muc like any type of organic dog treats but we also really love cheese, apples and carrots. Most of the tim just our cute little Boston terrier faces win us a treat, but sometimes we try a little harder by shaking a paw or rolling over. This treat jar would be a perfect accessory to our moms kitchen.
GIMME GIMME! BB’s favorite is (believe it or not)baby carrots. He will cry, and cry until you give him one, and then shred it to bits on the floor before finally eating it. If you aren’t paying attention, he’ll steal them right out of your hand.

My darlings – Bogart and Rocko – live for kongs filled with organic peanut butter or Zuke’s brand Mini Naturals treats. The jar we use now pre-dates Rocko so it only has Bogart’s name on it. A new jar to include all of our growing family would be super!

I like anything that comes out of the pantry! I am totally convinced that Mom and Dad go in and out of the pantry sometimes just to tease me. (Whaddya mean that whole loaf of bread and can of soup aren’t for me?!?!) I know those treats are in there!!!

Our dogs love milk bones. On occasion they will get a little peanut butter and they get pop corn when we have that during movie time. They love carrots and apple as well. (Did I mention they love treats..haha)

My beasts have really never met a treat they didn’t like, but some of the popular options are Greenies (aka doggy crack) and dried sweet potato chewies – either of which would look lovely and tempting in this nice canister! Usually a good sit will do, but sometimes a handshake (Seamus) or a pirouette (Piper) is required for treatification. And, like Dempsey, they do love pizza crusts (or pizza bones, as we call them).

Our dog loves just about anything as a treat, but his favorite has be visiting grandma and grandpa and getting LOTS of table scraps! We make him go through his range of tricks (sit, down, up, shake) but whenever we get to “rollover” he can’t stand it anymore and starts talking to us to tell us about his frustrations and “just give me the treat already!”

Hey Burger — Maggie, Kylee, and Lucy here. We don’t know about “random drawings,” but we do know treats and if you could manage to score that cookie jar for us, well….we could make it worth your while — 3 girls…you getting the picture? [doggy wink] Mom insists on giving us puppy-size Milk Bones–she says they’re the right size to not get us fat and that they still satisfy the cookie monsters in us. Uh, we disagree.
GIMME GIMME! I love bones! Whenever I have one I keep it close and give my brother, Gromit, the evil eye when he walks by. I even try to steal his so I can have two bones – one to chew and one to lay on and save for later. I know where my parents keep my beloved bones and I usually get one if I stare at the cabinet door long enough.
Gimme! Gimme! My girls LOVE rawhide bones a lot – they usually get those treats after a long day of being good dogs. They also love Charlee Bear treats!

He will do whatever we ask him to do to get one, whether it’s sitting, laying down, rolling over, or shaking hands (admittedly, it’s a bit hard for him to concentrate once he’s gotten a whiff of one)!

I love nearly everything my parents give me, except lettuce and apples. I especially love the baby carrots my mom gives me when she makes her lunch each night. But I’ll take Milkbones, too, or jerky or MarroBones… mmm, MarroBones… I usually can get something by sitting nicely, and then going into my sit-paw-other_paw-down-rollover routine. Baryshnikov, they should have called me.

My miniature chihuahua loves this beef jerky treat that we give him. His other favorite looks suspiciously like the ones in the second treat jar picture.

We love, love, love dehydrated chicken strip treats (a-mazing!) and of course a good Greenie every now and then. We also love peanut butter and that spray cheese stuff that comes in the can. The vet taught us to like that, since they use it to distract us when we get shots and stuff- we still know what’s going on, but the cheese is worth it!

Ruby’s favorite snack are slices of the Natural Balance rolls. Its like doggy sausage. She will do just about anything for them.
GIMME GIMME! Burger, my good chap! So sorry for the out of reach treats! Oh how humans do toy with us!! Maybe I could lend you my sombrero and that would get your folks attention. Let’s face it, it would probably look far more stunning on you than me. It makes my nose look HUGE!! I would offer to give you a boost, however, being 1/2 a dog tall and a dog and a half long poses it’s own challenges! Leave it to say, you would need a whole lot of 8 pound dachshunds! But, if you’re like me, you’re always on the prowl for whatever nature provides outside! Don’t you just love to dine alfresco!? Any morsel that drops on the kitchen floor is also up for grabs! Hi, my name is Larkin and I am a yellow lab! My most favoritist treat ever is soft-serve vanilla ice cream in a waffle cone. I don’t get it on a regualr basis, so it is an extra-special treat for me! I earn treats just by looking handsome :) If I won the treat jar, I would probably use it to store my Milk Bones, which I DO get on a regualar basis (plus ice-cream doesn’t keep well out on the counter).

Oh, Burger, I feel you, man. My ‘rents have my cookie jar up on the counter, and I can see it from my perch on the back of the sofa. Sometimes I just stare at it, willing it to fall off the counter. Hasn’t worked yet, though.
Anyway, I have allergies, so we’re pretty careful with my treats around here. I love Buddy Biscits, and pretty much anything else that Cloud Star makes. And for people food, I’m a sucker for mashed potatos. Oh, and ice cream. Sometimes I even get to lick the empty cartons. Mmm, vanilla!

Besides eating pretty much anything we put in his face/ falls on the floor, Carden loves cheese, peanut butter, and cashews. Pretty typical dog (maybe not the cashews part). He gets them by doing his trick routine: sit, speak, shake, lay down, crawl, and roll over. He’s so smart:). I know he would love to see his big ol’ German Shepherd ears (which I affectionately call “space ears”) on his own treat jar!

Buddy scarfs down just about any puppy treat I’ll let him have, but he gets MOST excited over new bones. His tail wags with delight as he spins in circles, whimpering in desperation for the bone to be dropped to his level. When he finally gets it? He carries it far far away (I guess he thinks I’m going to steal it?) where he wraps his paws around it and begins gnawing happily for at LEAST an hour.

Bailey’s favorite treat has to be Peanut Butter, which we give her inside her Kong when she has been particularly good, or super cute (which is pretty often). She loves it!
GIMME GIMME!! Our dog Lilly loves the Carver’s chicken treats. She knows that when we go into her kitchen cabinet to get one, that she must sit first. She sometimes sits when we go past the cabinet in hopes that we give her one anyway (and we do).

My doggies love anything. I usually stick to green beans, carrots, and fruits. That way they aren’t getting too many extra calories a day.
And to earn said treats they have to do a trick – sit, lay, roll over, play dead, back up, spin, up, high five, shake, up high (double high five), and stay. I think my favorite is back up and spin. They tend to do them both at once. Haha.

I love any treat I can get but mostly-of-all I like the beef jerky and BACON, usually all I have to do is sit, but they’re real suckers for a tilted head or (and I really love doing this one) a quick wink.
Sometimes, when Grandma is handing out treats to the cats (I live with 4 of them, you can pity me any time you want), I walk in to her room real slow and rub against her leg like they do. That gets me some yummy treats too. Usually fish flavored, but I’ll take whatever she’s got!

My most-favorite of all treat is salmon dipped in peanut butter. I’m like putty in Mom’s hands when I sniff that delectable pink treat. If she’s really making me work, she’ll command me to ‘Be a ninja’. Oh, it’s so humiliating (and kinda fun) to crawl across the floor! But I would do anything for my pb and salmon.
GIMME GIMME please! Recently my parents have brought home real bones from the butcher for me. I chew on them for hours and hours. The only problem is that they call me Carne Asada now becuase my breath always smells like meat!

My favorite treats are the ones that are unintentional, like when my parents drop things on the floor and my fast-as-lightning reflexes allow me to grab it up before they realize! If not those, then I get Wellness venison strips because my parents say I have bad food allergies – mmm mmm good!

Since my tummy can be sensitive, I usually stick to the mini Bill Jack liver treats! They are so yummy! Mom gives me one whenever she leave to go to work in the mornings!
GIMME GIMME anything soft, chewy, bite-sized, and meat-flavored. I like chicken, beef, salmon, and duck pretty equally so far! We have beef, salmon, and chicken at home right now so this container would be perfect for mixing them together in on easy-access spot, much simpler than opening a ziploc bag every time. Maybe I’ll get treats more often that way…

I’m learning that all potty activities happen outside, but sometimes I get confused. But when mom and dad take me out and I do my business outside, I know that I will get rewarded when I come back in!! I love Bill Jacks as well as pretty much anything that comes out of the treat cabinet!

My dog Abbi LOVES baby carrots! It is so funny. She sits and shakes, automatically before I even say it – She knows what’s coming I guess! Although the carrots wouldn’t do too well in the pretty jar, I am sure I can find some other fun treats to stick in there!
GIMME GIMME my favorite treat is the homemade peanut butter and cheese cookies my mommy makes me! i do my infamous sitting trick (which does take me a few tries, hey, i get too excited to concentrate!) when i see the ugly tupperware container come out, cause i know my yummy cookies are in there. and then i take my cookie to my mommy’s favorite sheepskin rug and devour it there, my mommy loves where i eat my much-deserved cookies! they don’t make a mess at ALL! ;)

The 2 Collies, Sheltie, German Shepherd and two Collie foster dogs at our house love Pupperonis, carrots, apple slices, Milk Bones, home-baked treats, peanut butter, cheese…well, you get the idea! If it’s edible, they’re there! They get treats for all kinds of things, including sitting, rolling over, going in their crates, and sometimes…just because. :)

We have two new babies in our house now – 12 week old golden retriever/corgi pups – named Spike & Drusilla.
We’re working on all sorts of commands with them, but the big one is “crate” since we both work and they have to stay in the crate while we’re out. They’re big on Bonz right now – the fillet mignon flavored ones. Trust our pups to have high-class taste!

My favorite treats are anything and everything. I especially love raw-hide bones, if I was allowed I would eat one everyday. I’m not talking about the little guys – but the big ones that come from Cosco in the giant bag. Yummy! I also love shoft,chewy meat chunks, but not as much as my raw hide bones :)!

My favorite treats are my pig ears and bully springs! Ever since I was adopted, I have been getting healthier anad more natural foods and treats and these are way better than the fake flavored bones I used to get! I get to have them when my new mom and dad are going to be away for a while for that thing that they talk about…work…whatever that menas!

I love me some natural dog treats. They come in a box. From the store/vet. They are good. That’s about all I can tell you except that all I have to do is sit and be a good little boy and I get a treat. I try to sit really still and really straight (which is hard because I was hit by a car before I came to my forever home so I am not able to sit straight). Sometimes I start shaking because I get so excited and then my mom laughs at me.

Since I am of the feline persuasion, I’d give this to my cuz, Smokey. He is a teacup poodle and will do just about anything for a Beggin Strip. And it was still alive! She scooped it up and put it on the front porch so I’ll just have to go back and get it tonight.

We love to give our dog Chloe these homemade treats by Maggie. They are an organization that gives mentally challenged kids a job to make dog cookies and they sell them in my work building. Chloe loves them! We also SOMETIMES let her have peanut butter and she loves popcorn. After responding to our commands (right now we are teachining her to high five) she receives a cookie.
A monogramed jar would be adorable to keep those cookies for Chloe.

My dog loves his milk bones. I’ve bought him other “nicer” treats, but he never seems quite as excited as he is for a milk bone. I guess that’s good for my wallet! He gets a treat when he obeys a command, or when he willingly goes into his crate, or if he’s just being super cute that day :)

Our pups love liver treats. Toby will stand all the way up for them (he’s a retriever so that takes some balancing), Mayfield will try to stand up, and Ozzy stands up and spins for us.

This sounds silly (and like I am a bad pet owner) but my weenie dog’s favorite thing to nibble on is sticks. He brings them in from outside when we got on walks and hides them all over the house. I keep some in a box on top of the fridge for when he has trouble finding the hidden ones and when he knows he has been good he sits by the fridge waiting for a new stick to chew on. I really have tried to give him “real” doggie biscuits but he is much less interested in them!
“GIMME GIMME” My lab likes just about anything we will give her, especially if it is cheese or meat. But the only thing she really gets on a regular basis is Milk Bones…and that’s just for being a good dog.
My little one Daisey gets PB tiny bones and carrots, she loves them both and gets them for being such a cute little girl.

Her list of tricks to receive a “cookie” include: sitting, shaking, playing dead, back up, dance, sitting pretty, staying, laying down, rolling over, balancing a cookie on her nose, speaking, and probably others I’m not thinking of. My amstaff terrier mix, Jersey, loves all things peanut butter. She has a bit of a sensitive stomach, but peanut butter treats suit her fine. She gets bored during the day, so i put them in a new toy that i got from the local pet store, and she spends an hour or so trying to get them out :)

Gibson lovvvves cheese. The real question is what does Bindi NOT like? Lately though, she’s been receiving dog training treats (soft, chewy treats that can be broken into teeny-tiny pieces). And she must work for them. Sit for one minute, stand and stay for 30 seconds, wait with the door open before we let her out, etc. We also play hide and seek which is her favorite.

We just got Our baby girl Bella. She is so very smart, she is 3 months old. She is already housebroken, sits, stays and lays down. Of course she gets spoiled with lots of treats. The treat bowl would be perfect because right now the treats are in their original bag.

My favorite treats to give to my 2 corgis are Charlee Bear liver and cranberry flavored treats, ice cubes, and Eagle Pack Holistic Select Natural Chicken Dog treats. They can give high fives, roll over, spin, wave, sit, leave the treat alone with the treat on their paw, or even a combination of any of their tricks to get that one delicious treat.

the pup is allergic to many things. he LOVES popcorn but i think he might be allergic to corn; i guess it’s a common dog allergen? i get locally made treats that have, literally, 5 ingredients, and he likes ‘em. those and the bits of jarslburg lite swiss he gets as training treats. :D to get those, he must look at another dog while on leash and….remain calm. or at least refrain from barking and lunging psychotically.

Bert can give either paw, lay down, heel (walk around and sit), sit, or balance a treat on his nose. Stewie can do all of those except the last one, and he gives hi-5′s, too!

Our two dogs are polar opposites when it comes to treats.
Vinny, a full-grown black lab mix, will eat anything he thinks might be food. Ally, a year-old collie mix, is much more finicky and normally drops half of whatever treat she’s eating. Vinny then gobbles it up as soon as it hits the floor.
Their favorite treats are dried chicken pieces and roasted ribs and femur bones, and they always sit, shake, and wait anxiously to get them.

Our lab Buddy likes home-made peanut butter treats the best. He also likes plain Milkbones and apple slices. Buddy earns treats by doing cute labrador tricks- like fetching and dancing.

I have two Wheaten Terriers and their most favorite thing in the whole world is chewing on those flat, square, unflavored rawhides. We keep a large glass cannister with a stainless lid on the kitchen counter for them. When they hear the word rawhide, or that cannister lid they come running. We don’t even have to give them commands….they just start doing everything they have ever learned all at once. They look like little ADHD dogs….sit, shake, down, rollover, bark!

I LOVE treats with peanut butter! And of course the ones that cost $7.00 and sans HFCS are the best for me. Mommy requires some sort of behavior trick to earn one sitting/staying/dancing like a circus dog. Daddy, aka–favorite one of all–merely requires that I pee/poop. Life is good at my house.

My favorite treat? You mean I have to choose just one???? What torture! I love everything! whatever smells good…or not…as long as it enters my tummy. I even love tabasco sauce (super spicy) and even ate spicy macademia nuts which was bad for me.
I’ll do anything! Mummy loves to make me pose with food. Arrgh! She puts it in my face, on my paw, next to my body but makes me just pose. I drool alot in the meantime. I can roll over and play dead for treats too. =D

GIMME! GIMME! We have two German Shorthaired Pointers who love all things they aren’t suppose to have. Their absolute favorite are homemade organic peanut butter treats that we make. I love them too because the recipe makes a huge batch, they are good for them and the ingredients cost less than a small box of regular treats!

I love rice krispies. My parents think they’re the greatest treats because they say they won’t make me fat. I just like the snap crackle pop. I also like baby carrots, milk bones…heck, I like anything. But the ‘rents always make me work for my treats. Their new favorite trick is making me play dead. They say “bang” and I have to roll over and stick my feet in the air. They laugh so hard every time. Whatever, as long as I get the goods!
