Well, when I was a puppy I would chew on anything and everything- even my parents hands and the bottom of their jeans as they walked. But then they took me to obedience classes where I learned to be rewarded for chewing on my toys and where I also learned that I would be discouraged (or redirected to something chew-able) whenever I chomped on something off-limits. It really only took a few classes for me to learn what’s mine to chew and what is strictly for cuddling. I do know some pups have a much harder time with this though, so I think really convincing your rents to encourage toy-chewing (with praise, attention, treats, happy clapping) and discourage/redirect all other bad chewing (offering up toys and praise and treats to get you away from blankets and pillows and showing you how much more fun it is to chew on “your” things) should hopefully work in the long run. …but I can’t help but think….why haven’t you chewed those fancy things to bits yet?

I’m not allowed near nice things in my house because I shred them instantly. Throw pillows, blankets, even bed sheets are tasty. So were you always so respectful of the “nice” things in your home….or did your parents have to bribe you away with treats and bones like mine do?
