Treats: Enviro-Pouches For Pooches
***This treat isn’t taking entries anymore. Sorry people.***
I hear you people-y types like free things – so here goes nothing (though I highly recommend being a dog, we don’t pay for anything).
Bags can be bad, like when we are shoved in them. Bags can also be good, like when you clean up after us with them. But when Rocco’s mom over at Envirosax told us about their promotion with the ASPCA this month, I realized that bags can be really good.
Not just because they’re reusable, but because Envirosax is donating $1 for every pouch sold in November to the ASPCA to help pets who aren’t as lucky and Rocco and me.
So Rocco and his momma wanted to spread the word by letting me give a free pouch (that’s 5 whole bags!) to THREE different animal lovers out there, kinda like my parents did a few months ago on their blog. And since they’ve already got this giveaway thing down, I recruited them to help me with this next part…
- THE TREAT: A 5-bag pouch of Envirosax, any design from their graphic series (check them out, they’re super cool)
- TO ENTER: Leave me a comment on this post saying “TREAT ME” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …I’d love to hear any good stories you have about rescuing your pet or otherwise doing something nice for us animals out there. Every little bit helps, so here’s your chance to brag.
- GIVEAWAY ENDS: Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: Three lucky humans (or dogs who like to grocery shop)
- ELIGIBILITY: Pouches can be shipped to the US and Canada
- DETAILS SCHMETAILS: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck!
I follow the same giveaway policies as my parents, so get more info on their Giveaway FAQs page. Images courtesy of Envirosax.

Treat me
All of my pets have been adopted from shelters. Rescuing an animal in need always seemed like the best way to go.
TREAT ME!
My husband and I foster cats for our local animal shelter. We have adopted two, Pork-ie L (she looks a pork loin with legs) and Bubba, and currently are housing three more nine week old kittens: Roscoe Jenkins, Miss Kitty, and Chester Cheeto! We love being foster parents, I wish more people would get involved and adopt!
TREAT ME!
My husband and I just moved out of our “no pets allowed” apartment and into our first home and we’re on the prowl for a furry friend! Right after we closed on our house it was a serious toss-up: visit our new home or go to the animal shelter to try to find a dog?!
TREAT ME!
Tipper, our wonderful grumpy old man of a dog would love to have envirosacks for us to tote his personal effects around in! When I first rescued him, he was five years old, and wouldn’t even look a human in they eye. Now he’s bossing his way through life, giving hugs and kisses, and snoring away while sleeping the sleep of a safe, happy pooch.
Treat me!
My cat, Lucas, needed a home after his new owner received surprise orders to return to Iraq. Since he’d be gone 18 months, he decided to place the cat if he could, rather than arrange for care. Luckily he did, because I’ve been spoiling Lucas since!
Treat me!
Our “baby puppy” (she’s actually 5) Tippy is a rescued pit bull from our local SPCA. She was found wandering the streets of West Chester, PA, as a six-week old puppy after most likely escaping from a backyard breeder. She was so malnourished that her front paws were deformed and she was walking on her hinges. When the SPCA took her in and put her paws in casts, it looked like she was walking on her tippy-toes, hence her name. She’s such a sweet, lovable dog, and we do our best to make sure that everyone she meets knows that she is, in fact, a pit bull so that the pit bull stigma is erased!
TREAT ME!
We don’t have any pets of our own but my in-laws do and I love spoiling their standard poodle by taking her on hikes. And my parents have parakeets and I like spoiling them by buying them yummy treats.
Treat me! My girl is a rescued greyhound and says she was born to be a family dog, and doesn’t miss running one bit!
TREAT ME! My all time favorite pet store is the time I heard rustling in the living room. I cautiously went in there (I was home alone and had watched too many true crime shows). When I flipped on the light, I found our dog Lady (min Schnauzer) with her head caught in a Ritz cracker box! Someone has left the pantry door opened and she helped herself. She had a grand ole feast until she couldn’t get the box back off her head! It was hilarious.
TREAT ME! I rescued my doggie (mutt) Axel from our local Humane Society…his story was one that is all too famaliar…dumped on a country road with his baby brothers, left to die, tick and flea ridden and hungry. But now he lives his posh life with his sister Riley (Golden) and has all the food and treats he could ask for!
Treat me!
We “rescued” our pug Dublin from a family who were told their two pugs COULDNT have puppies. And yet, here came Dublin! The owner had to pull poor Dubby out of the mommy pug, because she wasn’t supposed to be have babies!
Luckily he was A-Okay, and we were able to welcome him into our family!
Treat Me!
I rescued my doggie from a local shelter. She is the best dog ever! :)
TREAT ME! I got my baby dog at the anminal shelter seven years ago. We just celbrated our seventh dogiversary a couple of weeks ago! She is awesome!!
TREAT ME!
I rescued both my pooches from the Human Society. One was a stray and the other was an owner surrender. They both have health problems, but we didn’t care. I love ‘em to death!
Treat Me!
When my wife and I decided to get another dog we will be going to the shelter/humane society!
TREAT ME! My husband and I rescued 2 rabbits through Petfinder.com (a fantastic website!). We’re not sure how they came to be abandoned, but we’re proud that we supported our local humane shelter and rabbit rescue by adopting them instead of buying rabbits in a pet store. Most people don’t know that rabbits are the third most abandoned pet, so there are plenty of perfectly good ones out there that need to be rescued!
TREAT ME
I have a little white-ish chihuahua who looks a lot like Burger, except a lot chubbier (he insists he’s just big-boned). I adopted him 8 years ago and now he’s the boss of me. :)
Treat me! (please!)
When my husband and I lived in Mississippi, I worked at Mississippi State University’s Veterinary School in research. The vet students there founded a wonderful program called Homeward Bound that rescued dogs from the seriously overcrowded shelters in the area (none of the shelters are no kill and hundreds of animals are put to sleep each week, placed them with foster homes, provided them with medication and spay/neuter surgeries, and every few months, would drive them to the NE states to be placed in loving homes there, where animal overpopulation is not as big of a problem. My husband and I were fortunate enough to foster 3 wonderful doggies that we wished we could have kept as part of our family. All three are now in wonderful homes and our lives are better because of the time we had with them. If anyone is curious about the program, google MSU Homeward Bound. :)
TREAT ME!
All of our dogs have been “rescued.” We have never bought a pet from a pet store. We currently have 2 dogs! Love them to death!
TREAT ME!
We rescued our dog through a no-kill animal shelter in Indianapolis. He was supposed to be a beagle/jack russell mix (we were told he’d weigh 20-25 lbs at maturity), but our little 12 lb bundle of joy ended up growing into a 75 lb lap dog. :)
Treat Me!
I found my cat in my neighbors tree and she hasn’t left
me alone since!
We could not find her owners, so I took her in and fed
her what eventually became her name: Tuna.
Treat Me!
Treat me
Our first cat is a stray found by a neighbor (whose own children were allergic), and our second cat literally caught us–she reached out her paw and tagged my daughter as we walked through a shelter.
Treat me !
Treat me ! Please !
