Treats: Enviro-Pouches For Pooches

***This treat isn’t taking entries anymore. Sorry people.***

I hear you people-y types like free things – so here goes nothing (though I highly recommend being a dog, we don’t pay for anything).

Bags can be bad, like when we are shoved in them. Bags can also be good, like when you clean up after us with them. But when Rocco’s mom over at Envirosax told us about their promotion with the ASPCA this month, I realized that bags can be really good.

Not just because they’re reusable, but because Envirosax is donating $1 for every pouch sold in November to the ASPCA to help pets who aren’t as lucky and Rocco and me.

So Rocco and his momma wanted to spread the word by letting me give a free pouch (that’s 5 whole bags!) to THREE different animal lovers out there, kinda like my parents did a few months ago on their blog. And since they’ve already got this giveaway thing down, I recruited them to help me with this next part…

I follow the same giveaway policies as my parents, so get more info on their Giveaway FAQs page. Images courtesy of Envirosax.

TREAT ME!
We got Maggie the Supercat at the ARL and she is A-mazing – I suspect she learned a lot from those other animals that were sharing the space while at the rescue league because she knows how to fetch, come to the door when we get home, and a lot of other dog-esque things. I guess you’re not the only one who thinks dogs are superior Burger! Maggie wants to be one!

TREAT ME!

When I was 16 my boyfriend wanted to give me, as a Christmas present, a kitten that had adopted his family. My mom axed that idea because we already had two cats, but she “kindly” suggested that it would be the perfect gift for my half-brother, who was 6 at the time. Imagine my dad and stepmom’s surprise when I showed up on Christmas Eve holding a kitten with a red bow around its neck, and then handed it to my little brother.

A nice thing to do for the kitty, who lived for another 15 years. Not such a nice thing to do to my dad and stepmom. Luckily they ended up loving that cat like it was their “other child,” so it all worked out!

“Treat me”

I rescued my three kitty-cats this summer. My eldest, Oreo, is from the local Humane Society. She’s six years old. Hemi, a polydactyl (she has seven toes per paw) came from a local rescue, as well as Eddie (who turns one today!). I wanted cats while I was in grad school (past five years, since I graduated college in 2004), but wanted to wait until I could afford to provide them with a great home. Pet-friendly rentals were also hard to come by near my grad school. I also donate monthly to the ASPCA, and am a vegetarian. :-)

Treat me! I got my doggy when he needed a new home after not working out where he was. I plan to scour the newspaper or local vet’s office when we decide to get another. There are tons of animals waiting for good homes!

Treat me!

Although I don’t have time to volunteer, I donate to the local animal shelter to help those furry friends without homes.

Treat Me!!

oh Burger I knew you would have a great giveaway for us! Treat Me! We adopted a pup, Hoppy (she was very true to her name). Though she was bred to be a showdog, she was the runt of her litter and supposedly not good enough to show. She was just the cutest little Boston you’d find! I miss her so much!

TREAT ME

Growing up we never bought pets. Unfortunately because we lived across the street from an SPCA people thought dropping their pets off on the side of the road was close enough that the SPCA would catch them (rarely the case). BUT, lucky for the dogs and cats that came to our house we ended up adopting a lot of them. :)

TREAT ME!

We have Anubis and Ra (they are cats, sorry Burger, we’re not allowed to have dogs in our apt but we can’t wait to get one once we have a house!) We’ve had them since they were kittens – they are brothers – and are totally part of our family!

TREAT ME

My parents’ cat – let me start over – the cat that lives at my parents’ house (he’s his own man), was found by a friend in the woods as a teeny tiny baby. So you could call him a rescue. We had to bottle feed him and everything.

TREAT ME!

TREAT ME!

One spring in our woodpile there was a kitten born to a stray who roamed the streets of our neighborhood. My kids and I took care of the kitten for a few weeks until I found a suitable home for her (which was way harder than I thought). It was great for my kids because my husband is allergic to cats so we can’t have any.

TREAT ME!!!!!

TREAT ME! I haven’t technically rescued an animal, but I brought home a kitten from my grandmother’s cat’s litter (she has a litter of kittens quite often!) And, he actually gets a long very well with our German Shepherd!

TREAT ME! :)
We just adopted Omar from Hickory Hill K9 rescue in August and he fit right into our home. We give him lots of love and he gives it back. I think it was meant to be. We saw him on their website, visited him in person and filled out an application. Another couple had first dibs but decided not to get him, so we were the lucky ones!

Treat me!

I rescued my baby kitty, Maggie Kay, from a place that rescues animals from the county animal shelters and puts them in “foster homes” until they are adopted (they are a no-kill, unlike the county animal shelter). Foster homes are volunteers with the program. We now donate food and litter every so often to where we “chose” her.

She loves playing in our reusable bags when we get home from the grocery store. First, she sticks her little face in the bag to see what we’ve picked up for her, then jumps in!

Treat me!

We rescued 2 twin CATS from the local humane society. They were great! if it were not for us they probably would have went to kitty heaven :( They are long gone now but oh how fun it was to know we were rescuing them!

TREAT ME!!!

Treat me!

All three of our dogs are rescues, but our youngest has been with us since she was three days old. We were volunteering at our vet and they asked us to foster three puppies that had been found on the side of the road. We couldn’t say no. When we got them their eyes weren’t open and they had to be bottle fed every two hours. We lost two of the puppies within 72 hours to internal bleeding and an infection. After becoming extremely protective of the remaining puppy we decided that we couldn’t let her go. She is currently 7 months old, 60 pounds (and growing) and a naughty little puppy. We couldn’t imagine our lives without her though.

TREAT ME!

I rescued Miller, our puggle! He is the best thing in the world!

TREAT ME

TREAT ME! :)

TREAT ME!!!

My kitties are rescues and are now the most spoiled creatures on the face of the earth; I think they have it real good!

TREAT ME!

Oh, I’ve rescued oh so many. My toy poodle Lenny was a rescue from http://www.hua.org (Hearts United for Animals), he was a puppy mill dog that was no longer useful to the mill and they were going to put him down until the wonderful people at HUA rescued him.

TREAT ME! My parents adopted a 12-year-old dog from the pound one Christmas and she has been the sweetest and most grateful dog. My current dog was a gift, but the next time I get a dog, I definitely want a rescue pup!

TREAT ME!

Admittedly, our dog Bo is not a rescue pup, but every time he gets food or treats from PetSmart Bo donates a dollar on top of his tab to feed homeless pets!

TREAT ME!!!!!

Our cat was from a family friend who’s cat had kittens. Not really a rescue, but she would have gone to the Humane Society if my husband hadn’t taken her. In the future when we get a house, we’d like to get a second cat and will getting one from a shelter.

TREAT ME!

TREAT ME!
Our dog, Dallas, is still with us thanks to a wonderfully nice lady who saved him as he attempted to cross the highway after he escaped from the backyard. Thankfully this woman recognized a dog who needed help and thankfully Dallas recognized a nice lady who wanted to help him get home.

TREAT ME!! A couple of years ago my friends and I volunteered at the local animal shelter, cleaning kennels to raise money for a local animal charity walk. It was a dirty job but a great time was had by all for a good cause :)

Treat Me!

My husband always gets mad at me because I always seem to find lost dogs (and animals of all kinds) on busy highways – and I can’t just keep driving… I have to stop and help. Just yesterday I tried to stop to save a turtle that was in the median on I-95…. hubby didn’t go for that. He is afraid I’m going to get hurt one of these days!

Treat ME!!!

Treat Me! When I was little, we adopted our springer Sadie at the Humane Society. My mom and dad chose her because she was the one that needed the most love–she was quite scared, huddling at the back of her kennel. We were able to adopt her and give her a loving family. I can’t have any pets right now, but when I do live in a bigger place, I hope to do the same.

Treat Me!! Our German Shepherd, Chanel, is a rescue from Coastal German Shepherd Rescue here in beautifu San Diego CA. My husband and I are volunteers for the rescue group and just this yera (to date) the group has placed around 280 dogs into their fur-ever homes! We are all volunteers just wanting to help out German Shepherds, nobody is paid and we are supported by donations and adoption fees. We do have a big fundraiser coming up soon, check out our website: http://www.coastalgsr.org/

TREAT ME

we are fostering a black lab/ coon hound mix for a deploying soldier. he’ll be with us for a year and then we will have to give him back.

TREAT ME

Not only did we save our current cat (and save her life…might I add. She had a severe upper respiratory infection.), but we’ve also become the neighborhood kitten rescue. Apparently, we’re the house to come to if you’re a cute homeless kitten! In the last 6 months, we’ve had three little kittens take shelter on our rooftop deck and I’m happy to say all have been adopted!

Treat me!

TREAT ME!

Remmy doodle is our beloved german shepherd mix who we got from a GS rescue. We love him so much that after a year of owning him we decided to open our home and be fosters for a GS rescue. Our foster girl is so sweet and we look forward to finding her a forever home that will love her as much as we love our Remmy.
PS These bags are beautiful and such a great idea.

TREAT ME!

I got my shih tzu on a garage sale…..he hadn’t been groomed for over a year, so I guess you could say I ‘rescued’ him!!

TREAT ME!

I have two humane society rescues, Murray and Ellie, and have turned my husband (who never had a pet before) into quite the animal lover =). He can’t drive past a lost dog now and we’ve become foster parents to a few before finding their parents or placing them in happy homes. Rescue dogs are the greatest and I strongly encourage anyone considering getting a pet to visit their local shelter!!

TREAT ME!!

TREAT ME!!

I am doing my student teaching at a small school in Alabama. I graduate from college Dec. 18, 2009 with a double major in Math and Secondary Education. I began to notice a cute little pup hanging around the school where I am interning. I began to bring him food, treats, and save some of my delicious left over lunchroom food to give him. Unfortunately, I have an illegal Westie, Big Boy, that lives with me in my not dog friendly apartment and I just could not take him with me plus he was very skiddish and afriad. Luckily I talked one of the faculty members into taking him in and she did! He is now clean, happy, and a real treat to an eldery couple in the neighborhood. I’m so excited for him and his new family!

TREAT ME and my rescued kitten Fionna! I adopted her from my local Human Society down here in Charlotte, NC!! We would love to share these bags with my fiance.

TREAT ME!!

My chihuahua mix was bounced around three different homes before I took her in. She has seizures and is NOT kid friendly. But Molly’s personality is so cute (even if a bit sassy!) that I had to have her. Six and a half years later, Molly is as cute and sassy as ever!

TREAT ME!!

I rescued my kitties! Somehow I think they know I saved them.

TREAT ME, please!

Juno has told some of her rescue story to Burger already for the Bachelor contest, but she would like him to know that she had her first taste of ice cream yesterday, and she liked it. Just a few licks of plain vanilla soft-serve that the nice folks at the Twirly Top gave her for free in her own little dish. But she didn’t eat all of it, because she wanted to save some for Burger (or, let’s be honest, either of the two other pooches who were there too, but they had their own). Unfortunately, icecream doesn’t travel well.

TREAT ME!

Our dog is from a local shelter and she is the best!

Treat me!!

TREAT ME! I adopted my first dog (mystery mutt/special secret recipe pooch) from a great rescue group in the area, and since then I have gotten three more doggies from that rescue into new homes (a co-worker adopted two at different times, and my sister adopted one). I also volunteer with the group as a doggy handler and people schmoozer at their adoption events – and recruited my nephew to help as well! My second dog is from a breed-specific rescue, having been left at a kill shelter by her previous people. They both have TONS of personality and bring so much joy to me and others. Smooches for the pooches!!

Treat Me! Our dog, Porter, is a black lab mix that we got from a kill shelter last Christmas. He is adorable to a fault, and although we sometimes say he is “wired wrong”, I can’t imagine our family without him.

TREAT ME!

I rescued my cat from the Humane Society!

TREAT ME!

I got my shih tzu at a garage sale!

TREAT ME!

TREAT ME!

We found our cat (Jack) on the side of the highway during a Mother’s Day thunderstorm. He weighed 1 lb. 5 oz. at the time and barely had his little eyes open. After much love and some doctoring, he became the feisty, 14 lb. feline that he is today. We often talk about that day and how our drive to the grocery store made us the luckiest people in the world.

Treat me!
We got Patches about 7 years ago from a shelter. We walked in and spotted him jumping up and down in his cage, wearing an awful orange polarfleece vest. When we took him out to get acquainted, he promptly flipped over and started pawing incessantly at the zipper on the vest, trying to get it off. Eventually, he managed to rid himself of the orange monstrosity, and we were in love! (To this day, he won’t wear a sweater, even if it’s snowing!)

Treat Me!!!
Growing up there was a baby squirrel that fell out of a tree during a hurricane and was lost. My family took it in and raised it putting a big tree branch in a bathroom to team her how to climb. Eventually we let her out into the wild, but she came back 3x a day for food ;)

TREAT ME!!

My boyfriend and I found a puppy in the woods, he was very tiny so we washed him up, fed him a some puppy food and gave him some loving. we called around and eventually found a couple to keep him-they love him to this day! :) We also fostered a 2 year old pug until we found a loving home for him as well…hopefully we’ll have one of our own someday!

Treat me!

TREAT ME

My beautiful daughter, Ruby, was adopted from the local animal shelter. My husband works for animal control and saw her at the shelter one day in a kennel with several other puppies. Ruby was really calm sitting nicely to be petted while the other puppies acted like… well… puppies. We thought we were super lucky to land such a well behaved little girl, but little did we know that she was just faking it. We love her anyway.

TREAT ME!

We have 3 rescue “children” – Lexi, our boxer mix, and Neyland, our hemingway cat were both officially adopted from shelters while we were in college. Knox, our tabby cat, showed up on our doorstep as a teeny tiny thing so, after unsuccessfully trying to find her owners, we took her in as well.

TREAT ME!! All three of our cats – Chance, Willow and Irey are rescued – Chance and Irey were adopted from a shelter by my husband and Willow is an adorable Maine Coon that my friend rescued from a farmer’s barn.

TREAT ME!

As soon as the lease on my apartment ends, I plan to move into a pet-friendly building so that I can adopt a dog from an animal shelter. I can’t wait!

TREAT ME!

I worked at vet clinics from the age of 10 to 22. I started out just cleaning kennels but ended up taking care of the shelter dogs and cats there! They were so sweet.

Please “Treat Me” :O)

We rescued all our animals from the humane society. I cat and 2 dogs.

Treat Me!

TREAT ME!
The lab in the ‘animal planet’ graphic series of bags looks just like our rescue lab, Rufus! He is a lovebug and so sweet with our toddler. We’ve only had him for about 2 months, and he and our little girl have really bonded!

TREAT ME

A couple weeks ago we discovered a tiny kitten living under our wood pile. Each day we brought her food and water. She wouldn’t come out from under the wood pile. There were a couple nights where it dropped below freezing and it even snowed. After several days of visiting her and trying to get her to trust us she finally came out and we brought her inside the house where it’s warm and cozy. We named her Bear Grylls after the survivor guy. We figured if she could make it through the cold and snow she was truly a survivor. She is quickly becoming part of our family. We love that little Bear.

treat me!

my cats, wilson and luna, both came from the animal shelter. and i wouldn’t have done it any differently!

TREAT ME! We scooped our baby up as a baby pup from a free litter of puppies that were going to be sent to the pound! I love her so much! She’s a great mutt!

TREAT ME!
My cat growing up was a stray that we took in. He lived long after I moved away and got married. We loved him!

TREAT ME

TREAT ME!!

i love my dogs Ginger and Scout and they love nothing more than the laying by the floor heaters in our house…so i am always there for them to crank those suckers up. doggie heaven.

Treat Me!!

We adopted our (since-passed-away) full bred Husky after finding him as a stray hanging out at the local McDonalds. Ever since we adopted him, he would go bananas for American cheese. It was only later that we found out that the McDonalds employees would feed him a steady diet of cheeseburgers.

He was the best dog we’d ever had!

Treat Me!! We adopted Sydney, our beagle/lab mix, from the Humane Society a year and a half ago. They brought her out of the sick ward while we were at the shelter and we knew she was the one for us!

TREAT ME

Treat Me!

I found my kitties just over a year ago tangled up in a honeysuckle bush on a cold late October day. Their mom was nowhere to be found and they were mighty hungry and very angry about it. With the help of some friends, we got all the stuff to bottle feed them, etc. and did just that. After several trips to the vet, little Mucchi and Hobbit started to thrive and they’ve been with me ever since.

TREAT ME!!

Our boxer puppy Bella is a rescue from BoxAR Rescue in Little Rock, Arkansas. All the animals we had growing up were also rescues. When we realized we really wanted a boxer, we were so lucky to find an amazing breed rescue, highly reccommend it! : )

TREAT ME!

I rescued my Dachsund, Jager, from under a car in the parking lot of a Hyatt in Atlanta. Almost 5 years later and we couldn’t be more perfect together!

TREAT ME!…

Treat Me!

My husband actually rescued one of our dogs, Melanie, from the side of the road! One day he was on his way home from work and there she was, barely dodging traffic. He brought her home and she’s been part of our family ever since. She was in rough shape in the beginning – very skinny and had a few skin issues – but now she’s fat and happy and we couldn’t imagine the house without her!

We found our two cats in the woods as itty bitty kittens. We decided to keep them!

We adopted London, a rescue cat from CAT in Portland, OR. CAT is a wonderful organization that is no-kill. We wanted to get our newest family member from an organization that we support. London is the boss of the house, we think she is a year old, she was found pregnant with 5 kittens. She loves her toys and tends to herd us around the house to get things for her. She is full of personality and love.

Treat Me!
We joke that my SPCA rescue cat came from a dumpster behind the taco joint. Although she has eaten only kitty food for the past 12 years, a burrito is still not safe in the house and it will be eaten if left unattended. Any other person food is fine.

TREAT ME! Chloe and Amy (our two cats) were both strays we took in. Chloe was found living in a dumpster at a local restaurant. She was about 6 weeks old and so pitifully skinny. Amy was found in a tree in our yard the day we moved in. We asked around and it turns out, she belonged to the people who moved out, they just left her behind when they decided they didn’t want a kitten. The vet estimated she was approximately 1 month old at the time.

TREAT ME!

I have two amazing dogs that we adopted! We got Venus outside of Kroger from AARF in Richmond and Rusty came from another organization (I don’t remember which one!).

TREAT ME. We got our loveable mutt at the local humane society when she was 5 mos old. Over the last 5 years, we’ve repeatedly marvelled that anyone could lose her and not go looking for such an amazing, cute, sweet dog. I was planning on getting Envirosax for my sis for x-mas and now that I know about the promo, I will definitely make sure to order this month and give the aspca a boost!

TREAT ME!

Our dog had only two days left before her time was up (gulp!) at the shelter; we brought her home and have been in love ever since.

TREAT ME!

I have never rescued a dog myself, but I have many friends who have and have found it such a wonderful experience. :)

TREAT ME!

We rescued our lab mix, Potter, from a local Animal Shelter. He and his 6 brothers and sisters had been found by the side of the road where their mom had been hit by a car. The shelter found them and raised them until they were old enough for adoption, which is when we stumbled upon him. We were talking about getting a dog three or four months later, but he melted our hearts and came home with us. He’s a spitball, but we love him to pieces and have been so glad we found him almost three years ago!

Treat Me!

We don’t have any rescue dogs, but our 3 dogs are spoiled like none other! And they love to play with our neighbor’s rescued Jack Russell.

TREAT ME!

TREAT ME!!! I rescued my 2 pups from a City Shelter in Midland, TX – trust me, it was bleak. But I was lucky enough to adopt 2 wonderful, loving, healthy, adorable dogs. I can’t say enough about adopting pets – I know it’s not right for every one, but for my family it has really been rewarding. By the way, my girls Wendy (Corgi mix) and Molly (pug mix) think Burger is super cute!

TREAT ME!!

I rescued 3 feral kittens from behind the Goodwill one day (dropping off clutter landed me a litter of cuter clutter!). They were in pretty bad shape – one of them had a bot fly larvae in her shoulder! A year later, they are lap kitties and totally spoiled (and totally free of icky parasites… shudder).

Treat me! My dog Pablo showed up as a stray 2 months after putting our beloved lab Hector down due to osteosarcoma. When I took Hector to the vet and said “goodbye” I also told him to say “hi” to my dad in heaven and to send me another dog just as good as he had been. Bless you, Hector, for sending us Pablo, who has been a pretty dang good dog!

Treat me!
We got our sweet kitty Tomis from an animal shelter in DC about 10 years ago. He is friendliest cat around.

TREAT ME! Please…

We don’t have a rescue dog, but we do give to our local shelter on a consistent basis. (Gimli, our Aussie, goes along for the ride every time.) It’s difficult to leave there without bringing all the puppies home with us!

TREAT ME!!! My family has done it’s fair share of cat rescues in it’s time. I’ve also helped rescue a Doberman after it was hit by a car. The lucky girl survived, with just some minor damage to one leg.

TREAT ME

My in-laws wanted a dog so my husband and I rescued Maple, a shepard mix from the animal shelter, trained her and then gave her to my in-laws. She now lives on an acre (in L.A. no less!) with fruit trees, plenty of grass, a pool and near a large park with a track for daily walks!

treat me!

Just got our dog a red polka dot collar off etsy so she can look super fashionable :)

Treat me! No pets yet, but we’re getting a dog soon! Yeah!

Treat me!

“TREAT ME”

My devil cat was a shelter rescue and now I have my heart set on getting a German Shepherd. Until I have a fence installed, though, I’m settling for just helping by donating to the local GS rescue.

TREAT ME!

TREAT ME!

Some years ago when I was walking through the University campus in Brazil I noticed a little puppy following me… no matter where I went, he would follow me upstairs, downstairs, everywhere! haha
I couldn’t help but take him home! (after I made sure he didn’t belong anybody, of course) :):)

Treat me!

Our Penelope wasn’t a rescue dog, but we do love helping out the animal friends! We have been trying to tame and rescue three kitties that keep lingering around our home. They like the milk, but not so much me. I’m hoping they come around! I’m also make my husband roll his eyes every time we drive by a dog that appears to be lost and wandering because he knows that I will make him stop so I can check the tags to get him/her home! I’d want someone to do the same for our Penelope!!

Treat Me!

The last two family cats were rescued from our backyard. Every few years a pack of stray cats will settle into our neighborhood. It just so happened my little bro was venturing outside and found a small black and white kitten among the rocks near a drainage hole. My brother brought that little kitten into our home and she hasn’t left.

TREAT ME

i am actually in the process of saving up for a little pup of my own! so hopefully i’ll have some good animal friendly stories soon.

TREAT ME!

We got our dog Kip from the animal shelter. She was a puppy, but a VERY big one, so no one wanted her! She’s 120 lbs and the sweetest dog ever!

Treat Me

I work in a dog friendly mall and I keep treats behind the registers to pamper all my four legged customers.

TREAT ME!!

Last winter, there was a kitten wandering around the parking lot of my kids’ preschool. It seemed to have something wrong with it because it was walking oddly and tilting its head in awkward positions. We called the Humane Society, but they wouldn’t take the cat. All day I kept calling the preschool to see if they’d found anybody to take the kitten or who the kitten belonged to, but nothing. When I went to pick my kids up that afternoon, I picked up the kitty too and took her to the vet. She had neurological problems but was just the sweetest thing! After I’d done all I could to get her healthy (she will have lifelong problems), I found a sweet woman with MS who was looking for a “disabled” pet to be her kindred spirit. Away our little kitten went to her new home. The two of them are just beautiful together!

TREAT ME!!! :)

TREAT ME!

We got Cece (shelter called her Sissy) for our 1 year wedding anniversary. She was an adult dog who had been there for 3 months. When she arrived at the shelter she was pregnant, had pneumonia, parasites and was abused. She is such a different dog and is much a part of our family as our baby.

TREAT ME!

When I was in elementary school, my family rescued a box turtle from the middle of the road and let him roam around our fenced in garden for a year before we let him go back to the wild. He used to take baths in aluminum pie pans that we filled with water.

“TREAT ME”

I’ve fostered for several rescue groups. The lastest was a Pomeranian rescue. It’s nice to give dogs a “family” environment to live in while they are waiting for their forever homes and this means don’t have to stay at the pound. Fostering is so rewarding!

TREAT ME! Since I’m a veterinarian I like to think I do good things for animals everyday!! :)

TREAT ME

All of my pets have been saved or from shelters .. we currently have 1 shelter cat, 1 stray cat, and 1 feral cat we picked up when he was less than a month old.

TREAT ME!

TREAT ME!

Great cause to support with a bag purchase.

TREAT ME!

I rescued my 2 calico kitties after their very-pregnant mother was dropped off at a vet’s office. I fell in love with them instantly on FCDF.org (Friends of Cats and Dogs Foundation) which helps advertise cats and dogs that need homes, similar to Petfinder.com’s website. I went over to the vet’s, fell in love with these 2 little girls (couldn’t break up sisters!), and begged my husband to agree to bring them both home with us. A few weeks later they were old enough to come home with us and we’ve been snuggling with them ever since! They’re 2 now and bring so much joy to our home. :)

TREAT ME!!!!!

My cat, maggie, is a rescue from the SPCA. She was abandoned as a kitten and needed to be nursed back to health with a bottle. Today, she’s the most loving cuddly cat ever!

Treat me!

I called the police one Houston summer when I saw a poor dog inside a car with all the windows rolled up.

treat me!

A young female pit bull followed us home last month, and we took her on. It took us two weeks, but we finally found her a forever home. yay!

TREAT ME.

We adopted our cat, Echo, as a kitten from the Humane Society. A few years later, we adopted a 5.5 year old golden retriever, Summer, from a breeder who decided that since she wasn’t producing puppies that she would be better off as a family dog. Summer is now happy to be an indoor dog enjoying lots of attention and hiking trips.

Treat me!

I rescued both of my pooches from a wonderful local rescue group, Blue Dog Rescue (bluedogrescue.com). They’re not blue anymore!

“TREAT ME”

TREAT ME

I found my cat Lucy while she was digging around in a dumpster looking for food. She was malnourished and covered in fleas. But we took her in, cleaned her up and gave her a good home. She’s turned out to be the most affectionate cat I’ve ever owned.

TREAT ME

Our shih tzu “Fang” was found wandering my mother’s neighborhood. He was recently groomed and obviously well cared for, but was not microchipped and nobody responded to any FOUND notices so we adopted him. Now we make up stories about who his former owners were.

TREAT ME!!

I rescued both of my cats from the Fayetteville, AR, pound. Lucy had been abused or abandoned and was very skittish. She hid under my bed for the first couple of months. Now 3 years later, she’s still shy but she loves to follow me around the house. She protects my/her room from the other cat Beau and if you are very still she will even come sit in your lap.

Treat me!!!

Our furbaby Didi was picked up as a stray and sat at the Humane Society for a month till she was put on death row due to overcrowding. Thankfully a no kill shelter nearby volunteered to take her in until she found her forever family.

A month later we came in to look at another dog whose foster family decided to keep him because he was such a sweetie. Thankfully they did because we never would have found our girl.

After we slept on the decision we were supposed to drop off a deposit Monday then pick her up on Friday so she could have the weekend with us there to adjust to her new house. My softie husband couldn’t handle leaving her there for another four days so he brought her home even though we didn’t have any doggie stuff for her. On the way home she thanked him by resting her head on his shoulder and giving him a nuzzle.

When we got married a year later she was our flower girl and a lovely one at that.

Yay for rescue doggies!!!

TREAT ME

All of my kitties have been strays or from shelters.

TREAT ME!

I’ve rescued all my cats. I adopted my two current cats, Vashti and Dima, from shelters. They are both black, which I understand is the hardest color to adopt out. I love black cats, though. The best story, though, is how I adopted my late kitty Lucia (also black). She adopted me! One day, she just appeared out of nowhere and came running over to me, meowing, while I was getting out of my car. I already had my cat Vashti, so I wasn’t sure about getting a second cat, but I started feeding her, and she got more and more comfortable with me. When she finally let me pick her up, I decided it was time to take her in. She was a very sweet cat, and I was glad to have her for those last years.

As soon as I can save up enough money, I’m building a kennel for rescued dogs. It breaks my heart when I see any animal being mistreated or in need of a home. I want to take home every single one!

Our golden retriever mix was rescued with the local Golden Retriever Rescue where I volunteer. We fostered him through his heartworm treatment and couldn’t give him up! We will be adopting him once we finish all his treatments. I highly recommend going through a local rescue organization if you are looking for a dog.

Treat Me… Please!

My wonderful black and white cat Eli was my partner in crime after I rescued him for years; cats are definately ideal movie watching parters!!

TREAT ME! My family rescued my brother’s husky from a shelter. She was terrified of everyone, even shadows, but now likes to plant herself in the biggest chair and refuse to move! She loves snuggles, and gets plenty!

TREAT ME!

All four of my pups are rescues. During college, I worked at a vet clinic. People would bring in stray animals, and we would try to find them a home before sending them to a shelter. Many times the staff would adopt the animals. That’s exactly how I got my first two pups: Nopi and Loki.

Two years later, a puppy wandered up to our home. We took him in while we searched for his owners (he was clean and had recently had surgery). After one month of searching, we gave up and decided to keep him. Dexter is now the youngest member of our family.

Blue is the newest–and biggest–member of our family. Unfortunately, when we took him to the vet for the first time, we discovered that he had heart worms. He started the treatment Friday, and we hope that he will be heart worm free soon.

Treat me! I haven’t rescued a dog, but we do have a golden retriever that we love very much! :)

TREAT ME!

I love these bags! Ever since your other post I’ve been thinking about buying some of them. I think I’m going to made one big order and order some xmas gifts, too!

TREAT ME ~ for our terrier mix puppy ~ we spent 2 hours with him at the Humane Society and he had us at “hello – aka whimper, bark” and we signed a Covenant Contract stating that we would take care of him for the rest of his life. :)

We rescued our dog, Baxter. He was given to a Cocker Spaniel rescue group (Oldies But Goodies) based out of Northern VA, and we were lucky enough to find him on their website! They are a wonderful group. Baxter’s been an important part of our family for almost 4 years!

Both of our cats were rescued..Lovey was dropped off in front of a shelter in a box at a week or two old…Sadie was found in a field a couple weeks’ old sick & crying..heartbreaking!! 8 years later, they are both now fat, happy, lazy cats – we’re hoping to adopt a doggie soon!!!!!

TREAT ME!

I volunteer at the Richmond SPCA walking dogs in the afternoon. I’m actually on my way there right after this!

“TREAT ME”

Bonus question: We have 2 cats and 1 giant dog (you can read about them here: chateauwhitman.blogspot.com/2009/03/our-animal-family.html) and all three were adopted. They are all total sweethearts and they honestly seem so grateful to have found a forever home. I can’t imagine our life without them. Pets are such a blessing!

When we adopted our dog, he was full grown and already 100+ pounds, which made many other shelter visitors immediately pass by since many find his size to be intimidating. He was very submissive and insecure but also very gentle. When we brought him home, he was even afraid of our cats (and many other things). We’ve worked with him every day for the past 9 months and now everyone compliments us on what a nice dog he is. Now that he knows he is safe with us, he’s super confident and happy. I highly recommend adopting a dog. It’s such a rewarding experience.

Treat Me! My westie-poo Skipper is from a rescue. She is a puppy mill rescue and the best little dog for our family.

Treat Me. We got our beagle Sadie through a local newspaper ad, we really wanted a puppy (a litle selfish maybe :(). She has the cutest personality & is lucky she’s so darn cute, so when you find a whole chewed in your sock it’s hard to be mad!

TREAT ME!

My baby, I mean cat, Cliff, was a rescue kitty. His mommy died after birth, so I scooped him up when he was about 4 weeks old and got him treated for all the things that were killing the poor guy (fleas, worms, etc.). He’s now a healthy and happy 2 year old who ADORES bags of any kind. He just climbs in and hangs out!

TREAT ME!!

I love love love any and all animals to the point where I pick them up off of the side of the road. I found and saved one dog and returned it to its owner. I called the SPCA on an old neighbor who was SEVERELY neglecting their dog. And the list goes on and on…they all love unconditionally – we should love them the same.

TREAT ME

I rescued my cat from a shelter 15 years ago! Love him!

TREAT ME!

We adopted our kitties from the animal rescue place in town. They were sooo precious. But, they came with fleas and earmites, so when they came home with us, the got baths (oh, they loved that) and ear drops (even more fun, let me tell you). But, now they are healthy and happy little bugers and we love them to death!!

Treat Me!

We have two shelter cats who are our babies. So happy to have rescued them, and they make us so happy.

My husband adopted two pups from the local rescue center before we were together and they are now part of our family. They are brothers and are dachshund/chiwawa mixes!

TREAT ME!

Unfortunately, I have no story to tell, as I’ve never had pets. Well, not “real” ones. I’ve had fish. And a crawdad. The crawdad got out of the tank once. I didn’t know until he’d been out over 12 hours. I rescued him from the fireplace another two hours later, when I finally found him. He never fully recovered.

TREAT ME!

growing up my mom and i rescued all sorts of animals in the street including dogs, cats, and turtles. my husband and i continue the tradition and help dogs on the street until we can find their owners.

My name is Katie, although you may call me Super Kate, like my person Janice who is typing for me does. We are towel collectors (Janice admits to a mild linen fetish) and we take her old towels to the Animal Rescue League. We even collect them from her people friends to take to other dogs who need some love.

Growing up, my family rescued our first dog. She was found collarless wandering the neighborhood, and our neighbor took her in for a couple months. She had no identification and no one claimed her after posting ads. Our neighbor could not keep her so we took her in and were so lucky to have her!

Treat Me

Both of my cats are rescused from the shelter (my dog was a gift but def would have rescued one had I not gotten him!)

TREAT ME! :)

Little Irwin Mitchell ran into my life (literally) 4 years ago and I was instantly smitten. Neighbors found him at a gas station and when I learned they were only keeping him until they could find a good home for him, I immediately volunteered. That night Irwin slept on the couch with me and he’s been my little shadow ever since.

Treat me!

We brought our kitty home from the local animal rescue shelter in March. She chose us – by walking right up to my husband! She continues to be bold, sociable, curious and snuggly. My sister adopted her wonderful dog from a shelter, and my brother’s senior cat was a shelter kitty, too… my family loves us some rescue pets!

TREAT ME

My old dog Max was a fun find! Early one morning when we were leaving for school we opened the grage door and there was a dog curled up by the back door! We later found out that he had been jumping the fence, pushing open the back door, and then eating all of the cat food. He stayed with us for a long time, but we never made him choose inside or outside, we always left the garage door unlatched so he could push it open, and he would go to the front door if he wanted to come inside (only when he wanted people food, or a good nap next to kitty!).

Every dog I have ever owned (since the tender age of 5) has bee a rescue dog. I feel VERY strongly about getting your pets from the Humane Society, the only downside is that whenever we go, I want to take home ALL of the pets.

Treat me!!!

I have always rescued animals when we would decide to enlarge our family but right now I have an 18 year old cat and a 13 year old cat who need homes and no rescue group will help me because of their age! I have had to move where I cannot take them with me and they are staying in my old place for as long as possible with me going by and feeding them, etc. I am heartbroken that I may have to take them to a shelter so if anyone has any ideas please let me know. Thanks!!!

TREAT ME!! (please)

We rescued both of our cats from local animal shelters. Our male cat, Goldie, was a girl (we thought) for the first few weeks, until he got sick and we took him to the vet and learned that she is actually a he!

Treat ME!

A few months ago, my Chihuahua Chloe and I found a stray cat that had been around the neighborhood for about five days according to neighbors, basically starving and dehydrated. We took him in, had the vet clean him up… $500 later, he was our pet for two months. Then one night I was doing research on what breed of cat he was, I still had a feeling he had an owner that was looking for him, because he is a beautiful cat, and very nice. I found out that he was actually a Maine Coon, so I googled “Missing Maine Coon” and found a ton of articles and pictures of the cat on my lap! Apparently he was the next town over’s unofficial High School mascott who had been missing and presumed dead (he had a kidney issue so the vet gave him 2 weeks without treatment— i had him two months)! Needless to say I called the owner and attempted to convince her that the cat was alive and well… finally I emailed her pictures of him and she and her husband were at my house to reunite with him in about ten minutes! We have since recieved countless thank yous from the highschool and the cats owners!

TREAT ME! Please :)

Our youngest cat come to us courtesy of his mommma. She was a stray neighborhood cat who got pregnant and gave birth. Two days in a row she dropped off a dead kitten on my husband’s doorstep. On the third day she dropped of Willard. Barely alive but full of “piss & vinegar” and my husband says. He nursed him back to health, his older male cat “mothered” him, and now he is my little pal!

Treat ME!!!go vegan and do not pay for your animal companions

Actually my hubby and I just adopted our little yorkie from a shelter about a month ago. I’m still shocked we found a yorkie at a shelter, but we love her!

Treat Me! My hubby & I rescued our Lady (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel) 5 years ago and I must say we received an overwhelming amount of love from her. Sadly, although we did everything we could to get and keep her healthy she passed away last month of complications due to congestive heart failure. I would encourage everyone to pick a dog (or cat) from the shelter. They are so grateful to be given a loving home!

TREAT ME
I wish I had a pet, but we can’t where we live right now…one day I will though!! I love to go to animal shelters and just spend time with them. I feel so bad because I want to take them all home, but I figure if I can love on them a little it might a little more bearable for them until they get taken to a new home. :)

We adopted our lovely little girl Saci from Cause for Paws here in Austin, Texas almost three years ago. She’s a basenji/whippet/golden mix and we really couldn’t love her more. her personality is to die for, we’ll be animal rescuers for life!

TREAT ME!

We just adopted our pup, Ripley, in July. When we got him he was being fostered in a filthy home and came to us with kennel cough, coccidia, mites and hook worm. He was lethargic and never wagged his tail. Four months later he is the happiest pup alive, super healthy, and his tail never stops wagging.

Woody is our sweet 75lb rescue mutt who was at the pound after being hit by a car. He was in pretty bad shape, but he’s now healthy and happy and we love him to pieces!

TREAT ME!

My husband and I adopted our beautiful beagle/dachshund from a rescue when she was 1 1/2 years old. She’s a petite girl and had those typical behaviors associated with being mistreated and at a rescue shelter. She immediately won us over and now, almost three years later, she’s still top dog in our hearts. She especially takes advantage of every pillow and blanket and furniture cushion in the house. She likes the finer things in life, you know.

My own Hanna was adopted almost 12 years ago from a shelter.

Please TREAT ME and my kitties!
Hey Burger, thanks for the great offer. These bags would be super cool to bring home goodies from the pet store!
I rescued my cat Phoenix from the SPCA when she was about 4 months old, now she’s 12 years old and the sweetest girl you could ever hope for. I’ve just recently bought my very first home which means I can get a dog now! We’re looking at our local rescue site for the perfect fit for us. We really want someone just like you Burger – you’re just the right size and damn fine looking to boot!

TREAT Me!

Our lil doggie was rescued after my then new-to-me hubby and I went on a walk around our city, chatting up about how awesome our wedding was then and how in love we were and then BAM Sweet Pea ran by and we had to save her from out under a thorn bush. She’s been a part of the family ever since.

TREAT ME!

I have two rescues and one non-rescue. We love our non-rescue Bulldog, but rescues make the best pets! They seem truly thankful to have homes. Since there are so many pets who never get their forever homes, I encourage everyone to rescue.

We have Gunny, the Heinz 57 or mixes. He is a little bit of everything and turned out with some unusual characteristics. Then we have our Bulldog, Matilda. Finally, our newest addition, Bella, who is a Chocolate Lab/St Bernard mix. Still waiting to see how big she gets!

My neighbor and I found two beautiful puppies by the side of the road 12 years ago. They have been the best dogs ever since!

Treat Me.
We had a stray tabby kitten stuck under our house in Florida after a hurricane one year. She would cry all night long, but we couldn’t get her to come out for weeks. Finally, we coaxed her out by meowing back to her. I think her curiosity made her come out to see where the other cat noises were coming from! She has been my little kitty ever since.

TREAT ME!

Our dog is from the shelter – she was a poor little pup abandoned on the streets, with no mom when we fell in love with her 4 years ago. She was so shy and had little bandages on her back paws when we first saw her (from having her dewclaws removed) – so sweet! She has turned into such a fun-loving, sweet dog – I can’t imagine life without her. She definitely isn’t the mix they guessed she was at the shelter (lab/german shephard) – she’s a goofy mix (more like a lab/basset hound, or even lab/daschaund?) and we love her for all her silliness.

TREAT ME!

*Proud owner of more rescued cats than she cares to count…lol*

I took home a stray cat from my job one day. He has been the best can ever. His name is Kenny and he’s a lover!!

My hubby and I have two furpups – Casey Jones, a Springer Spaniel and Terrapin, a German Shorthair. We adopted Terrapin from our local German Shorthair Rescue Society after his dogmom was left in the overnight bin of the SPCA :( She had 5 puppies in the shelter and thakfully all survived. The pups and mom were taken in by the GSRS and all were adopted :)

wow, i love these bags! i am a huge huge huge fan of reusable bags. even got my old roommates to start using them. the graphics are so cute too, my favorite is the flora bc it comes with so many colors!

once when i was little i found a lizard floating in our pool and sadly fished it out. as my sister and i sat staring at it, mourning it’s untimely death in our pool, i decided i was going to try and see if i could save it. i pushed lightly on it’s poor stomach to see if any water would come out. amazingly, the lizard revived, jumped up, startling us, and sat on my hand for a millisecond to stare at us. it then skittered away. my sister and i looked at each other in amazement and then cheered. :) i like saving animals, but this one is probably my favorite bc it was the first time i did it.

TREAT ME!
My husband and I got our very first puppy not too long ago…his name is Elvis and he is a wauzer (mini schnauzer & westie mix). He’s the most adorable puppy you’ve ever seen, quite smart, a little stubborn, but our little baby. I’ve always been an animal lover – i grew up with cats, however. I still love kitties, but my husband is allergic so thats how we ended up with our little pooch. When i was living at home we had at one point nine cats in our house: two of our own and a mother cat we fostered who had kittens in my bedroom closest – 6 kittens! It was crazy times, but brining up those kittens made it all worth it. They all found happy homes including the mommy.

Treat me! We rescued the absolute best dog ever off of a highway a few years back. She had been quite mistreated and was ill so she only was with us a few years, but they were happy years for her and us. We still miss you Blondie! It’s taken two dogs to try to fill her pawsteps.

Treat me! I haven’t adopted a dog yet, but I’m currently searching for that perfect puppy to save!

TREAT ME!
I grew up on a farm and animals were always showing up. Others must have realized we were good pet owners and could provide unwanted animals a good home, so they were dropped off at our doorstep!

TREAT ME!

Both of our kitties are rescues who were picked up by a woman at my husband’s work and given all their shots, etc. They’re not declawed, which is a good thing since they both got out this weekend and one of them still hasn’t come home. We miss our little Elphie and hopes she finds her way home to us soon. :(

Treat Me!

My mommy rescued me from a family that was moving and could not take me to their new apartment. I overheard I was going to go to the Humane Society if my new mommy didn’t step up to the plate and take me home. I love her very much b/c she takes me for rides all the time in the car. My favorite place to shop is Petco where I always get to pick out my own treat from the bone bar. When I first got to my new house I used my sad eyes to convince my mommy I should be allowed to sleep in the bed under the covers. She is such a sucker, hehe don’t tell anyone but it still works ;)

TREAT ME!
actually, both of our pets are rescued.

patsy the cat came to us when my boyfriend’s uncle sadly passed away. she had been a one-man cat for 12 years, so she took a little winning over, but now she’s quite content with her multiple queen-sized beds, soft blankies, and specialty food (pete even gives her filtered water!!).

gibb the dog came to us kind of by accident. we went to the memphis animal shelter to rescue a dog we had seen on their website, only to find out that (despite being initially assured otherwise) he had been put down the day before. we were so, so sad, but determined to save a dog. we rescued gibb and brought him home only to discover he had pneumonia. we nursed him through that, and he’s now a full-of-energy running pal – he did six miles yesterday! – that has about 40 toys, 5 shirts, and his own bed AND crate. maybe our pets are spoiled…

Treat me!

We have adopted 3 dogs so far (one out of a kill shelter and 2 from rescue agencies), and I’m sure there will be many more to come!

TREAT ME!

My family kitty, Noodle, was discovered on a golf course. The maintenance crew was about to light her on fire! My mom scooped her up and brought her home. She is the most loving, hilarious cat in the world.

We rescued some stray kittens from a friend. The plan was to get one, but then we showed up and there were only two in the litter.. We had to get them both so they could remain together. Now I can’t think of our home without both of them and their CRAZY cat-alities.

TREAT ME! I run the VA branch of a national lab rescue (www.adoptalab.org) and my lab stella was rescued through adopt a lab. I find homes for deserving pups on a daily basis.

TREAT ME!

As a kid all of our dogs were strays or unwanted for some reason. Our current dog, Mason, was my mom’s dog and since her husband decided he didn’t like living with a dog, I offered to take him. I am completely in love with Mason and couldn’t imagine life without him.

Currently the lucky owner of two rescue kitties, one cute doggie and former owner of six amazing rescue doggies (all no longer with us). One of the rescues was an 11 year old English Bulldog living under an old car hood in the mountains. Poor baby. He lived with us for four wonderful years and loved the posh life we gave him! :)

Growing up we always had cats that we either adopted as strays or got from the local animal shelter. Now my husband and I have a 3-year-old border collie mix we rescued a few years ago. She is one of the smartest, prettiest dogs we’ve ever met, and she makes us laugh every single day.

TREAT ME

My parent’s dachshund is very old (17!) and pretty much sleeps all day. Since she had a zillion toys and only played with one occasionally, all of her toys in near-perfect condition were donated to the local animal shelter. Hopefully they were put to good squeaking and cuddling use.

TREAT ME!!! I’m very proud to say that I have never paid for a dog or cat other than the fees owed to the local humane society. I grew up on a farm and my parents have always been animal lovers, so from a young age I learned that it’s much better to adopt a dog than to buy one. We even rescued several dogs from people who couldn’t take care of them or could no longer keep them. I’m currently a proud owner of the cutest dog imaginable, she is a Welsh Corgi and Golden Retriever mix, the turnout is literally a miniature Golden Retriever. Her name is Mutsy!!!

TREAT ME!

My dog Sadie was adopted from the humane society. We were devastated when we found out she had heartworms, but we went ahead and had the vet treat her. I’ve had her for six years now and she is definitely my best friend!

My pooch came to our home in the month of July years ago. He was a puppy Christmas present who was rehomed by the time summer came. Their loss, my gain!

My boys Gizmo and Monte say hi and hope I win! They want me to be environmentally friendly when I pick up their cat vittles at PETCO! Yes, they’re cats but some of the coolest swingin’est kids ya ever met.

TREAT ME!

We are currently petless, due mostly to our situation in a rental home, but once we’re in a better situation for it, we hope to rescue our next pup from a breed-specific rescue organization. (Our son’s allergies unfortunately prevent us from adopting mixes or unknown breeds, as much as we would love to otherwise.)

“TREAT ME” and…
Well lets see we have 4 animals, Sarge, the dog, was a gift from the in-laws who came from a breeder before my husband and I got married…but… the other three all have unique stories. Boo is a black cat I found living in the sewer behind my parents house. My parents wouldn’t allow for a cat in their house so not even two days after closing on my very first home I saw that little black cat again and rescued her. Tried finding an owner and after the vet gave her a clean bill of health she became the first inhabitant of our first home. Three months after we got married and all moved in my husbands dog (who had been living with his parents till the wedding with thier yellow lab) seemed very lonely and had some seperation anxiety. So after browsing adoption shows in our local area we stumbled upon Shelby from an organization called HART. She is a very active beagle mix. After a home visit and a donation she was ours! They two are just like brother and sister. We couldn’t be happier. Last but not least Miko Bear is a crazy kitten who started out as a bet. My husband didn’t think I was spontanous enough to just go get a kitten, so I proved him wrong! Just so happened that Saturday was a kitten adoption show hosted by Fancy Cats. Again after a small donation that little kitten was ours! He is a ball of energy, but we love him to death. I’m so glad we found him that day!

Treat Me!

I currently volunteer with Family Dogs New Life Shelter (a no-kill shelter for dogs, they have a super cute web site if you need a pick me up!). It is my favorite place on earth…way better than Disney Land, hands down.

We share our home with two rescued greyhounds (10 and almost 12)and an 11 year-old terrier/poodle mix. Such lover puppies they all are! Thanks for the opportunity!

Treat Me!

We adopted our dog, Harley (a mini dachshund), from a rescue organization. We have seen first hand how a home, love, and attention can make all the difference in the world. Harley was scared of people and other dogs when we got him and stayed by himself in the corner. Now he is the first one to greet people and curls up next to our two other dogs. When you start to pet him, he rolls over to have his tummy rubbed. What trust! It just warms my heart!

TREAT ME!

Our younger dog, Marzipan, is a chow-shepherd-collie-retriever (or whatever, you guess is as good as mine!) mix, and the light of our older dog’s life! Those two sure like to snuggle.

All of my pups have been rescued with the most recent being just 1 month ago. I adopted Annie, a stray collie mix with love to give, from Richmond Animal Control. She is doing well and loving life!

My husband and I are in the process of finding a new four legged family member for our family and we are determined to find one from a rescue group or shelter. There are so many wonderful animals out there in need of a home, it’d be so great to be to adopt one of those that are most in need.

We once rescued a nest of baby birds that had fallen out of a tree in our yard. There were 3 of them and we named them Huey, Dewey and Louie ;-)

My family actually adopted our 4 cats (Chester Sabrina, Max, & Molly) and 2 dogs (Jack & Missy) from a local animal shelter. Even the litter of cats we had prior to this were all rescued. I guess you can say we have a soft spot for animals that need a good home! :)

TREAT ME!!

We adopted our Boston Terrier Rigby from a shelter in St. Louis. We saw his adorable face on-line on a Saturday afternoon, completed the application moments later and had our response from the shelter that night! We awoke EARLY the next morning, I looked at my now-Fiance and said, “Should we do it?” and off we drove the 6 hours to get our boy. He is the most amazing dog and we spoil him rotten!

TREAT ME! I have been blessed and got our Emma from my FIL.

TREAT ME to the planet green pouch! So cute, i have wanted green bags for a while, these would be great!

TREAT ME

We donate towels & blankets to our local vet.

“TREAT ME” and… we rescued a senior dachshund. Even old fellas need a home!

TREAT ME

Both of my pets are from local pounds! My kitty is from the humane society and my pooch is from a local shelter (they take their pets to pet smart every weekend otherwise they are fostered)

TREAT ME!
Not quite a ‘rescue dog’ but our current puppy was headed to the shelter unless we took him off my friends hands. She got him as a puppy but realized that college and a new dog were to much for her to handle right now.
His name is Sir Ian McKellen. He would love to go to the Pet store with me and some Envirosax bags.

TREAT ME!!! Our little corgi, Trudi, is our first child :-)

“TREAT ME”

TREAT ME!

My hubby and I adopted Loki from our local Humane Society a few months after we moved in together. We knew we wanted a dog with a lot of personality, and that’s certainly what we got! He’s been a wonderful addition to our little family, and we can’t imagine not having him around. Even when he eats our stuff.

We made a donation to that shelter instead of giving out favors at our wedding. We decided a safe place for dogs like Loki to wait for their forver homes was a better investment than monogrammed shot glasses.

Treat me!

I wouldn’t call it “rescuing” my husband’s cat so much as “not letting him run out the back door on purpose”. This cat came with the marriage and I despised him for years b/c I’m a dog person…on top of that, I’m allergic to him. 6 years later, I’ve got my allergy meds stocked and a love so deep it hurts for that little hairball.

“TREAT ME!”

TREAT ME!
I grew up out in the country and we never bought any pets, but we always had at least 1 dog (and lately my parents have adopted a few cats too). We had a couple dogs given to us out of a litter of puppies, but most of them were “dropped off” (aka abandoned) by their owners and we just started feeding them and giving them a place to sleep and play.

Treat me!
I just dog sat for my parents for two weeks!

TREAT ME!!!

I would LOOOOVE to volunteer at an animal rescue shelter but my full-time job and 2 part-time jobs don’t allow time for it, right now anyway. My 2 cats aren’t rescue but I have provided them with a loving home for over 6 years now. When I first got them, they were covered with fleas and my baby boy had a cold. I bathed them both and took them to the vet for all the shots, check-up and my boy was put on Amoxicillin for his cold. They’ve been spoiled ever since! My husband and I have considered getting a dog. If we ever do, he or she will definitely be a rescue!

TREAT ME!

We are the family who always gets rescue pets. Lots of cats and even a very funny little dog named Finnegan.

TREAT ME!

We rescued our dog from the mean streets of Chesterfield. He’s the most lovable stubborn dog and suffers from the “50 First Dates” syndrome. He never recognizes my hubbie when he wakes up in the morning and has to relearn who daddy is!

TREAT ME! Where we live in Guatemala, street dogs are really common. There is an organization here though that takes in the poor babies, gives them a home and loves them until someone wants to adopt them. I have a couple of friends that adopted their furry friends for the organization and things have worked out great.

Treat me!

I snatched my pup out of the jaws of August’s 95+ degree heat and being chained to a tree ALL THE TIME. Now he has a nice, air conditioned house to live in, his own queen size bed, a couple couches to nap on during the day and all the squirrels he can chase. Not a bad life if you ask me. And that whole not paying for anything is a nice perk too… Thanks Burger and Rocco!

I am the mom of a 7 month old Cocker Spaniel and a 2 year old Persian cat. We are in the process of looking for a home with a sunroom for the cat and a fenced in yard for the dog. :)

TREAT ME!

I convinced my parents to adopt an unloved Queensland Heeler that was being abused by the owners rotweiler.

Treat Me!

Our dog Rey was found wandering along the road in a terrible neighborhood–the kind where people only have pitt bulls! He is a handsome beagle and we adopted him a buddy (Indy) from brewbeagles.org about a year later.

Treat Me!

Boomer (aka Mr. Boom-bastic) came to us from the local Humaine Society. We continue to donate to them as our favorite local charity as thanks for giving us such a much loved member of our family.

TREAT ME!!

Our scruffy mutt was found on the side of the road, and no one else ever claimed her. We took her in as a puppy, and seven years later, we can’t imagine our life without her!

TREAT ME!!!

Treat me!

I did the walk for the animals for the seattle humane’s society this year- and it was great!

TREAT ME! I’m sure my doggies would agree that we’re very nice to them and spoil them WAY too much!!

TREAT ME!

I’m so glad it’s open to Canada too, thank you!

This year our anime convention sponsored a cat cage at the local Humane Society for an entire year. Our local shelter is good, and any kitties that end up in there (hopefully only for a short time before finding forever homes) will be well taken care of!

Treat Me!

TREAT ME!

We rescued our dog in May, and can’t believe the progress she’s made. She went from terrified of everyone and everything to being the happiest dog we know! We are so happy we found each other.

TREAT ME!

My cat was a rescue. The woman I got her from takes in feral cats and gives them to good homes. My cat would have made a horrible wild cat. She was hiding in the wood pile from all the other animals when I got there!

Treat me!

All three of our pets (two dogs and a kitty) were rescued from shelters or foster homes and have touched our lives in ways we could never have imagined. If only there were enough loving homes for all animals in need.

Treat me!!

TREAT ME!

One night my darling husband brought me home the most adorable puppy ever. It was a total surprise! Turns out our little baby maltese shih tzu was the last of his litter and about to go to the pound if we didn’t give him a home and how could I say no to that! We named him Lucky because he’s lucky he didn’t have to go to the pound and we’re lucky to have him!

TREAT ME! We have adopted many animals from shelters over the years. You just see their faces, and can’t help but give them love.

TREAT ME!

I have two rescue stories! The 1st rescue story is about when I found my little Sabine :). It was 1992 and I was pumping gas into my “Killer Civic Hatchback” and saw a little dog in the alley eating Domino’s pizza (no kidding). There was no one around and I yelled “puppy!puppy!” Sabine looked at me,ran over and literally jumped into my arms. I asked everyone at the gas station if she belonged to anyone and they said no. I took her to the vet and he said she was very dehydrated and needed some care. I had Sabine for 17 years and she sadly passed away from old age this June. She was 100% perfect!

The 2nd rescue was Penny! She was picked up off the road after a lady saw someone open their car door and release her into a rural area of Miami. She thankfully picked her up before she was hit by a car, took her to the vet and made sure she was up to date with her shots. She placed her on petfinder because she already had 3 pups of her own. I happened to start my search for a sibling for Sabine the same day Penny was posted. I called, picked her up and the rest is doggie history. Penny had been abused, so she took some work. Now she’s just as perfect as her sister was :)!

PS-She said she’d love a bag haha

Treat me!

TREAT ME!!

I haven’t got a great rescue story yet…but when my baby is a bit older we plan to rescue her a companion to grow up with! ;)

Treat Me!

TREAT ME!
We had picked out a girl puppy to be my husband’s hunting companion. But, unfortunately, the whole litter got parvovirus and she died before she came to us. So we adopted one of her brothers (who had survived) instead. He is definitely one of the family now!

TREAT ME- At my office we have volunteer day each year. For the past few years I have gone to a shelter in soho to help exercise, socialize, and even do a little dirty work to get the pups smiling!

TREAT ME!

My husband (then boyfriend) and I rescued our 4 year old hound from an animal shelter when she was just three or four months old. She was just too cute to leave in the shelter, plus we felt great about giving a needy pup a home. With all the over-populated shelters out there, paying $400 for a dog from a breeder just didn’t make sense. We ended up still getting a puppy who we could watch grow and we know the reason she is so well-behaved is because she is grateful for being rescued. We couldn’t have made a better choice!

TREAT ME!
We rescued Big Margo from a shelter last summer. She’s livin’ the good life in south Minneapolis now!

Treat me! Shelter kitties are the best!

Treat Me!
My sister and I rescued Kane, a great dane/german shephard mix, from the shelter she volunteered at. He had been abused by his previous owner and had a broken leg. We fell in love and just had to adopt him!

TREAT ME!

Our lab Lilly is from a rescue organization. They are a great organization that takes as many dogs from pounds as possible and Lilly was lucky enough to live with a foster family until we adopted her. We love that we were able to adopt her and love that the organization has foster families willing and able to care for the dogs until adoption. The folks that volunteer as foster families and the woman who created and runs the organization have huge hearts and a total love for dogs.

TREAT ME

Three years ago we rescued a cat, she’s adorable and so sweet natured. About two months ago we adopted a border collie, somebody had taken her for a car ride and just let her out of the car and drove off. A kind lady rescued her and then put her up for adoption and we were lucky enough to be chosen by her. Daisy is so sweet but if you ask the cat, she might tell you something different!!

Treat Me!

Treat Me! We resuced our cat from the vet – someone had brought her in after hearing something funny coming from under their hood – it was a kitten. She rode around in the SUV under the hood, until getting to the vet – very daredevil cat. She is now our favorite entertainment.

Treat Me!

I found my Cleo from a children’s camp. Yep, I did. My god-daughter brought her home and said that she was sweet and just wanted to be held. That did it for me. Home she went.
She’s been the boss ever since. :)

I also volunteer for the Humane Society. It’s so cute to see the pets come in and sit for a picture with Santa!

TREAT ME!

Not only am I the resident B&B for all of my family and friend’s pooches… (for free mind you!) I can’t pass by an animal that is out wandering alone without stopping to help find it’s way back home. My husband has finally given up and just pulls over without me having to ask. I also help turtles and ducks and iguanas get out of the road safely by stopping traffic (or in in the case of turtles, picking them up and moving them)… I can’t help it. My heart is so big for all animals big and small!!!

TREAT ME!

My cat came from a kill shelter, got her out of there just in time! She’d had a litter and wasn’t even a year old, when the owners surrendered her ‘just because’ according to her forms. Their loss is my gain because she’s fantastic. So every year on her adoption date, we donate in her name to that shelter (in hopes to give another cat more time to find an owner) and the ASPCA :)

TREAT ME!! I took fostered 3 daschund puppies that were recovering from parvo while they waited to be adopted to a forever home.

TREAT ME!!!!
All 3 of my dogs are from rescue groups. Our first was found on the streets so we don’t have much of a back story on him. Our second dog was found in a dumpster the day after she was born. And the newest addition was left in a garage by his previos owners. They have all left their past lives behind and I think they are much happier being spoiled by my husband and I.

TREAT ME!
We have two rescued animals- a cat we took in as a stray and a dog we adopted from the shelter. We found out both have chronic health issues – and were probably given up by their last families for those reasons. I can’t believe anyone could abandon an animal in need like they did ours… but we are happy to give them a second chance at a happy, health life!

Treat me!

TREAT ME- I love those sacks – Also love our 2 ( re-homed) kitties- trying to convince the spouse a doggy would be gooD too!

TREAT ME!

TREAT ME

I heap tons of love on my friends’ pets, since we can’t currently have any of our own.

TREAT ME!

We have five furry ones – yes, FIVE. (That’s a LOT of house cleaning!) All are rescues of one kind or another, but Stewie, our beagle (?) mix was the best. When my husband was finishing his PhD, I went to Petsmart to pick up a bag of food for our lab mix Albert. There, right at the door, was Stewie. “Smiling,” happy, friendly. And – like an oversized beagle. The perfect size match for our ‘Bert.

I came home with a Stewie AND a bag of dog food. And he’s been the best ever since. (6.5 years ago now!)

TREAT ME!!

We have three cats and a dog is next! We constantly find strays, get them their shots, and find homes for them. I should have been a Second Chance rescuer in another life. A most recent rescue – my husband found an injured owl on the road. He called a local organization that picked it up and took it to an animal hospital. Thanks to that, “Raya” the owl is doing just fine.

TREAT ME!
Thanks for a great give away, Burger! My DH and I adopted a 10-year old Chihuahua mix from the humane society two weeks ago. Mia is the greatest dog ever, and we enjoy her so much. We only know that she was found on the streets about five months ago and then was adopted out to a family that brought her back full of fleas. :( We’re happy to have her safe with us!

TREAT ME

Dave, Dougie, Boo, Suzi, Willy, Barry, Harry, Red and the girls thank you.

TREAT ME

We rescued our dog from a shelter after someone had left him outside for weeks at a time. He was so scared during thunderstorms he would hide in the far corner of our bedroom underneath the bed. We will always choose rescue!

Treat Me!

TREAT ME!

the hubs and i rescued our lapsa apso about 4 years ago. well, kinda.
a few months after we moved in together we decided we wanted to add a small and fuzzy little guy (or girl) to our fam. we took a saturday trip to the humane society. after searching and searching we really didnt find any little ones that seemed right.
on our way out we ran into an older gentleman in the parking lot. he was trying to drop of a dog he had found running around in his neighborhood, but didnt have the $75 (!!!) required to drop off an animal. i quickly ran to his car, completely uninvited, and fell in love with the mass of matted fur in his back seat.
we paid the man $20 for his gas and time, and took our little love mop home :)

TREAT ME!

our cats have become my parents’ first grandkids. i think they got almost as many gifts under the christmas tree last year as my husband and i did!

My husband and I “rescued” our kitten Lucy from a farm. I’m sure she will be much warmer this winter in our house, and worm-free (once she finished her medicine). She is the friendliest cat I’ve met, and loves to snuggle up to take naps.

TREAT ME. I rescued my chihuahua Pico from a puppy mill in Mexico.

TREAT ME!!!

On Nov 19th, we will be celebrating the 10 year adoption of our sheltie, Chandler. We were a month shy of our college graduation and lived in apartments that didn’t allow dogs. So we hid him out for 4 weeks. He even spent some time living in a dorm on campus. We had to hide him under the laundry in the basket to sneak him in and out of my apartment.

We also adopted our siamese cat, Kobe, from a rescue group 8 years ago.

Treat me!

We have two rescue buddies. Lucy and Orzo.

Lucy is a cat that we rescued from some kids who were about to drown him. (jerks)

We saw Orzo hanging out near a dumpster behind a restaurant, and took him home after getting permission from the nearby residents.

Treat me!
Our 2nd Boston Terrier, George, was adopted from a family that needed to find a new home for him. It was us or the shelter. He is the best dog-boy ever!

TREAT ME

My husband and I rescued our dog from a puppy mill. He is the most loveable little guy on the planet and had come such a long way.. he is a total mommas boy!

TREAT ME!

Our Golden Retriever Charlie would love one of these great bags to tote his gear around in!

TREAT ME!

TREAT ME… please!

This is crazy timing, we are going to a small dog rescue this evening to adopt a dog for our daughter Sophie… she has a soft spot for chihuahua’s!!!!

TREAT ME!
We rescued our poodle/bichon mix this April from the SPCA. He’s 3 years old and quite the laid back little guy.

We rescued our schnauzer/terrier/whoknows from the humane society in June. She’s under a year old and was very malnourished and full of worms. She couldn’t even scratch her own ear, poor darling. She’s FULL of life and energy now and you can no longer see her ribs! :)

TREAT ME!!

In lieu of wedding favors, at our wedding my husband and I made a generous donation to the ASPCA. We felt that instead of having a bunch mini wine bottles (our original favor idea) left on the tables after the wedding, we’d make a donation in honor of our love for animals. We plan on making a donation every year on our anniversary (our one year is coming up this Sunday!)

Every New Years my husband and I pick a charity to donate to each month that year. This year he is working with a charity through our church, and I picked our local humane society. Its not much, but every little bit helps and I hope its a tradition we can pass onto our kids.

Treat me!

We found our min pin, Beasley, at a flea market. She was locked in a cage with her brothers and sisters in a very cold air conditioned building. She was the runt of the litter and was very sick when we met her. I couldn’t resist her little face so we “saved” her from the mean old lady that really didn’t care if she lived or died. She’s now 1 year old, healthy and in a happy home. She actually reminds me a lot of you, Burger!

TREAT ME!

Treat me…

We got both our dogs from the shelter and our cat belonged to my brother’s high school girlfriend that brought her home and found out her parents were allergic.

Treat me!

We rescued a lab mix from Puerto Rico back in April and she’s great. I volunteer at an animal shelter, so I get to see a lot of great rescue dogs find good homes.

Treat me. We just bought our first home in April, and are finally able to have a dog. We’re currently on the waiting list at the local Lab rescue.

Treat me! Our dog used to be a breeding dog that was retired. While her breeding family was wonderful she is leading a much more comfortable life in retirement at our house. She gets her choice of dog beds, human beds, or couches.

TREAT ME!

My cat is a rescue… much to her horror, I’ve also taken in another cat, a husband, a baby, and 2 dogs since it was just the two of us!

We love our local SPCA… We have a second-hand shop here where all the proceeds go to the shelter. It’s a great place to donate stuff you don’t need, and we occasionally find really cool second-hand pieces. It’s just like a Salvation Army or Goodwill store. You know all the money is going to a great cause!

Thanks for the give-away, Burger!

TREAT ME

My cat Obi was found outside our condo by neighbors…they couldn’t take him in, but I could! He’s a sweetheart and a wonderful pet.

Treat Me! (Please)

Cat here, embarrassed to admit that I’m reading a dog’s blog. But I’m here and my Mom & Dan love reusuable bags to bring home my loads and loads of cat food and treats. My Momma rescued me in college, so I like to say that I have a degree from Penn State!

TREAT ME

All my four babies are rescues one way or another. Shena (our oldest kitty) is from the county shelter, Tiger (our younger kitty) was a stray, Bogart (our Chi/Pug mix) was adopted from a local rescue organization and Rocko (our Jack Russell) came to us when we stopped a woman from dumping him at the county shelter. Animals are huge part of our lives.

Treat me!

I didn’t rescue my dog, but I like to think that I give her a pretty good life — lots of love, carrots, and football playing every day.

TREAT ME!

We have two rescue min pins. We adopted Ava in 2004 when she was found by the local dog warden wandering the streets in the dead of winter. She popped back to life within a few months and has been my right-hand girl ever since. Then in Dec ’08, we decided to give her a sister and adopted little 4 lb Desi, who was breeder relinquished. They complete our family of 4 and are able to turn around any bad day we’re having just by looking at us.

TREAT ME

We used to live on a farm and adopted two dogs from the local animal shelter. Our plan was to stick with the two since we would eventually go back to being city folk, but one day a kitty showed up on our front porch. The dogs were curious and sniffed her but they didn’t chase her away. And being a cat, she just ignored the two dumb dogs sniffing her. Since they all got along, we took it as a sign that she was meant to be part of our fam; and even though I’m allergic to cats, I fell in love with her. Now we have three four-legged children and I get weekly allergy shots.

TREAT ME…we saved a lovely kitty from going to the ARL.

TREAT ME! Susie was the skinniest little kitty at our local vet, and when our old cat passed away, we just scooped her up so we could keep loving cute kitties!

I rescued Emma from an animal shelter in Florida. She was so scared when I got her, she wouldn’t even go outside to go potty or to just go for a walk (yeah that meant I had to wrestle her to get the leash on her and then drag her out the door) and at the site of a guy she would start shaking. I KNOW something bad must have happened to her. But after lot’s of lovin’ and some quality time with her she’s FINALLY starting to act like a normal dog. I’m so happy to have Emma.

TREAT ME!

Vella came to us from TN via Bideawee. We adopted her on Valentine’s Day. All of my Coporate Giving allocation is going to Bideawee this year. Like so many Non-Profits, they’re struggling in these hard times. Every $ helps. Afterall, the animals need help too!

Treat me!

Treat me! When i was younger, my mom & I would find kittens abadoned on our road, so we would rescue them, find good homes for them, or keep them in our home, which we did with 2 of them. Such a shame what people will do to get rid of unwanted pets.

And my two adopted JRT’s

TREAT ME!

Both Winston (most attractive beagle ever) and Pepinot (grumpy but lovable miniature schnauzer), come from the SPCA. They thank us every day for loving them and giving them such an amazing home, full of cuddles, food, toys, and most of all, to get to sleep in our bed and cuddle at night. And I thank them for lighting up my life.

Treat me!

My beloved cat, Pepper, was rescued from the SPCA in 1998. She’s been living a pampered life ever since! She was a tiny longhaired tortoiseshell when we got her, but she’s now a whopping 12 pounds (probably bigger than you, Burger!). She’s a little older now, but is still always up for a cuddle. I left her napping happily in a patch of sunlight underneath my desk this morning. Coming home at night is that much sweeter knowing that she’ll be there waiting for me.

TREAT ME!

We have two dogs – Chaos is a (most likely) norwegian elkhound mix who we adopted from the local pound. She was over her 3 week “hold” period and was down to the wire. :( She is an amazing pet and loves everyone (except for squirrels, lol).

Mayhem is a retired racing greyhound. They typically don’t race past the age of 5 and he was 5.5 when we got him (he’s now 10.5 and in great health). He is the most mellow dog ever, and although he had a lot to learn (including things like how to walk up stairs, ride on elevators, and be around strange things like tv’s and vacuum cleaners) he did come with ideal leash manners. He is a total couch potato and my velcro dog.

Treat Me!

My husband and I are always taking care of random animals that we find. Although, after our last two rescues (a duck, and an owl) dogs and cats seem rather ordinary! (no offense, burger!)

TREAT ME!

We always adopt from the SPCA… we now have a precious doberman, Peyton, who was just too much trouble for her other family, so we adopted her 3 years ago. And let’s not forget our kitty, Dolce, who jumped into my daugher’s car at the gas station (yea, right). It’s true what they say: Dogs have masters, cats have staff!!

TREAT ME!

Treat me!

My husband and I are moving into our brand new house right before Thanksgiving, and first thing on my list once we finish stuffing ourselves with turkey is to begin visiting shelters to find the dog that’s meant to be in our family! There are so many amazing animals out there who are looking for a good home, and I can’t wait to do our part to give some cute pup a second chance!

TREAT ME

My mommy and daddy always stop to help dogs who are out walking alone in the neighborhood. This has meant that I once had a wonderful girlfriend staying at our place named Cannoli. She was a basset hound/beagle mix and oh-so-beautiful. She and my pug self enjoyed some good times.

The last time they tried to help a dog, who looked like he or she belonged to a sweet old lady, they ended up being threatened by a group of 6-8 teenage boys throwing down cuss words like they were going out of style. They wanted to help the poor dog but couldn’t ever figure out where the teenage boy whose parents owned the dog lived. We hope things turned out well for that dog.

Treat ME!

After some unfortunate experiences with mice and fish, our family gave up and got a free feisty kitten from a litter a neighbor had found. 17 years later, she’s finally a sweet cuddly cutie.

TREAT ME!!

Great giveaway, Burger. Unfortunately my husband and I are renters and can’t have any pets, but one day we will be adopting a cat from Lucky Cat, a local cat rescue charity.

TREAT ME! My current cat isn’t a rescue…I was young and didn’t know any better :( But I’m trying to convince my husband to add another to the family and this time we’ll definitely adopt (and an older cat too)!

TREAT ME! Pretty please?!!!!

My husband and I rescued our dog, Oscar, after he had been there for over three months. We walked up and instantly fell in love with him…and he then proceeded to turn a few circles and poop EVERYWHERE. It was clearly love at first sight! We took him home hours later. :)

Treat me!

My husband and I got our dog from a woman I worked with. She had no idea her dog was pregnant, the puppies were never taken to the vet to be checked and she was about to drop them off at a small pet store. 9 months later we have the most loving/needy/hilarious dog that loves to watch TV and give kisses and wrestle with my husband.

Treat Me!

Hamburger, you are basically my new hero. It’s clear that your parents’ sense of style has been passed down to you, and I love your passion for two good causes. I am a rescued bishon frise-poodle mix (or, as my parents call me, a bichoodle) named for their alma mater’s mascot. My history is sketchy, but the prevailing story is that I was born in a puppy mill and then abandoned. I was picked up by the pound and then rescued by Saving Grace, who helps place dogs from kill shelters with families.

My forever family found me at Saving Grace. My mom wasn’t looking for a poodle (she was, in fact, anti-poodle), but my cute looks and cuddly personality won her over and she convinced my dad to take me in.

I’ve been with them for four months and am the luckiest bichoodle in the world! So I love how you’re helping give all dogs the chance at adoption into loving homes…and helping the environment, to boot!

TREAT ME!

I rescued my adorable cat, Turtle from the SPCA last year. She is a fab addition to the house and such a wonderful little buddy. I volunteer a few hours each month at our local SPCA and think of it as something I am doing for Turtle.

TREAT ME!

We got our Shelby girl from the shelter one year ago this week. A two year old boxer that was underweight, heartworm positive, with two types of intestinal worms and kennel cough. After some antibiotics, heartworm treatment, alot of nommy food, and a whole lot of love she it perfectly healthy and the best dog we have ever had. She came to us leash trained, potty trained, and kid trained – I guess we were just meant to be!!!

Treat Me! Thanks so much for your post about the fellow pooches at Camp Wolfgang – it’s great that they all found good homes!

TREAT ME!!!

My husband and I are scouring adoption agencies and local rescue organizations, looking for the perfect pooch to complete our family. Hopefully whoever comes home with us will be just as awesome as you, Burger =)

Treat me! No dog for us yet — we just moved into our house, but my fiance and I both had dogs at our parents house.

My mom just rescued the sweetest little kitten over the summer.. she showed up on her front steps and she couldn’t resist.. Maverick, (our dog) was not too pleased at first, since he was no longer the center of our attention, but the two get along so well.. Bailey (the kitten) has even fallen asleep next to Maverick!

TREAT ME!

My chocolate lab, Baci, was a stray that I found roaming around downtown. I took him home, bathed him and we have been together since. He is a wonderful dog and I think that rescued animals are the best, they seem more appreciative in my opinion!

TREAT ME! We found our kittens in a cardboard box outside of the local library. We had no intention of keeping them permanently, but realized that we were irrevocably under their spell when none of the potential owners from Craigslist seemed to meet our standards. Standards such as 1) you must promise to keep them together, forever, 2) you must promise to feed them only organic, human-grade food, and 3) you must let us come visit them whenever we desire =)

Treat me! We rescued our cat Gordo. He and his brothers and sisters were found in a dumpster.

TREAT ME!!

TREAT ME! Our dog, Little Jerry Seinfeld (LJ for short) was rescued from the Humane Society. He’s made our lives 100,000,000 time better and my husband and I worry we won’t love our future children as much as we love this little guy (just kidding…we hope!).

TREAT ME

We adopted our chocolate lab off of Petfinder. There lab had had puppies with a stray dog and she wanted to give away all the puppies. Next time we get another dog we will probably adopt one from a local shelter.

Treat Me!

I’ve rescued/adopted two dogs in my life. The first my Mom actually did, since I was about 4, but I named her Muffin/Muffy and she was a terrier poodle mix. She was tied up outside in a cage with HUGE dogs alongside her sister (who my Grandma rescued at the same time and named Kiwi). Obviously, to a 15-20 pound dog being outside 24-7 and being scared by big dogs all of the time is just plain abusive. Someone took them out of that situation and then put them up for adoption with just a road-side sign. We got so lucky because she was such a great dog and she was in my life for 18 years (yes! 18!).

Then, almost 2 years ago I adoped another little mutt- Ries. She was 1 when I adopted her and had been abused, neglected, given up to a shelter, rescued by a society and then I adopted her. We don’t know what exactly her story is but obviously she was kicked and hit because she flinches if you move your foot or hand too fast. She had so many trust and fear issues at first, and still a bit today… we’re always working on them.

The first time I met her, when we went to do the adoption, and put my hand out for a sniff she wanted to take a bite out of my hand… that’s how afraid she was that I was going to hit her. She was shaking in fear. But, that didn’t last too long- I think she knows that she is pretty darn lucky and spoiled to boot! I hope that I get 18 years with my little Ries too, just like I did with Muffy!

We adopted our dog from the humane society when he was a puppy. He is the best.dog.ever! Would do it again in a hearbeat.

I tried to rescue, but kept getting dead ends. Finally, I got a call from my boyfriend’s sister about a colleague who had bred golden retrievers. He had an unusually large litter (12 puppies!) and there was a spot available. I snapped it up immediately.

A week after I brought Baxter home, he got terribly sick. After two days of tests, the vets finally determined that he needed emergency surgery. The problem was so delicate that it couldn’t be done in Charlottesville. There’s a vet trauma center in Goochland that was our best hope, but if they didn’t have a bed for Baxter, we’d have to drive him to Virginia Tech or Washington, DC.

Looking back, I laugh at my innocence. I asked the vet “when do we schedule this” and she said “There is no scheduling! You have to leave RIGHT NOW!” That’s when we both started crying on the floor of the exam room.

We rushed to Goochland and had the most amazing experience ever at the VRCC. I still send them Christmas cards because I’m so thankful for what they did.

Now, I volunteer with the golden retriever rescue to make up for not adopting the first time. I get to shuttle rescue dogs from one place to another and do home evaluations for people interested in adopting.

Amazingly, many people don’t realize that there are rescues specific to almost every breed, so if you have your heart set on a certain kind of dog, you aren’t limited to the local shelters.

Treat Me!

My people have been given me, Fiona, and my housemate, Genny, because our breeders knew that they’d be the best fit for us – we’re both Jack Russell Terriers. They love us and spoil us and have been the best! We’re so fortunate!!

TREAT ME
My husband and I foster pit bulls from PAWS- Philadelphia Animal Welfare Society. PAWS is a no-kill shelter, so they tend to have a lot of dogs in their shelter- especially pit bulls since they have such a bad rep. We bring the dog home, give it lots of love, fun play time with our adorable 2 year pit, make them healthy, take adorable pictures and list them on craigslist with personalized accounts and stories about the dog. This makes such a big difference and we are able to get the dog adopted to a great home within a few days of listing them.It feels so amazing to send a happy and healthy dog to their forever home….
P.S Burger is sooo cute.

Around Mother’s Day of this year we added a new pooch, Lily, to the family after spotting her on the local Humane Association’s website. She had been found as a stray, adopted 2 times, and then returned both times. She apparently was a biter, and had some health issues.

Needless to say, Lily wasn’t anything like her previous owners reported. She is quite possibly the most loving gal out there and just loves to be cuddled. She even has a mostly loving relationship with our other dog, Milo. LOL.

I like to think Lily always knew she was supposed to be with us. Thus, causing her to act out with previous owners. I mean, a dog has a right to choose too don’t ya think??

TREAT ME

Besides adopting 3 beautiful kitties from the Chesapeake Animal Control Shelter, I work for the Humane Society too. In addition to the monthly adoption days at Petsmart, once a week I go to our special clinic shelter to care for the 8 to 10 cats that live there. It gives their human a break!

“TREAT ME”

We picked up our two cats from a co-worker that otherwise would have let them end up at the animal shelter, and they’ve had a loving home for 4+ years now. And our Basset Hound, Lucy, was found via the local paper from a family getting rid of the litter of puppies their dog had.

TREAT ME!!!

I LOVE Dogs, and my husband refuses to let me have one, so basically any time I see any kind of dog, anywhere, I make googly eyes at my husband, and then proceed to play as long as I can with said dog! :( Maybe if I win this giveaway, I’ll get a dog from the husband!

Treat Me!

We adopted our English Springer Spaniel when she was about 15 months old. She spent the first 15 months of her life at a dog kennel, with a breeder who loved her but didn’t socialize her at all. We’re still working with her, but she’s coming a long way in the year that we’ve had her!

Burger, she’d love you, but she’d be freaked out by your parents (simply because they’re human!).

Treat Me!
We are getting ready to adopt a kitty from craigslist!
so excited to have a little furball in our house

TREAT ME!

Our two kitties are from a cat rescue organization in los angeles, called Purrfect Partners. they were found in a cardboard box on the steps of a church! they were only a month old at the time so had to be gently cared for by a foster mom for another month or so, until we were able to adopt them. i honestly don’t think i could have ended up with sweeter, cuddley, curious cats! i don’t understand the motivation for some people to get cats from breeders. (no offense, but cats’ personalities seem to be a lot less predictable than dogs!)

TREAT ME!

Well, I once rescued my cat Remington from a contact lens solution box when he got his head stuck in it. But seriously, both of my cats are rescues, and if I do say so myself, they have pretty sweet lives, now. ;)

TREAT ME!
Ralph, the wonder dachshund, came from a rescue group to live with me when he was 4. He’s now 12!

TREAT ME!!! My boyfriend and I rescued our kitty cat, Chillin, (who thinks she’s a dog) from my parents who were going to declaw her. She was tearing up there house and they couldn’t take it anymore. We could not let her beloved claws, she loves to hunt, be taken away from her because she loves them too much. So we took her to our house and she is quite content living with us now. She’s our baby :)

TREAT ME!

Our kitty Max was a stray that I found in the middle of the road one Summer night. My husband was not too pleased with me for bringing this “thing” into our home but the cat ended up sticking around anyway and now Max and my husband are BFFs :) He is the BEST cat! So friendly, just adorable, and full of spunk and character. I can’t imagine my life w/o him.

TREAT ME!

Both of our dogs are rescues. Stewart, a terrier mix, and Chester, a shih tzu, were both adopted from the Atlanta Pet Rescue. Chester was rescued from a puppy mill where he was sadly neglected (the hair on his legs was so matted at the time he was rescued, he couldn’t walk!)and Stewie was picked up by animal control on the the mean streets of ATL. They are both the most lovable animals in the world!

Treat me!!!!

Hubby and I volunteer twice a month at the local animal shelter playing with and walking the doggies. It makes me sooo sad that I can’t bring each and every one of them home, but we have 2 kids (four-legged variety) of our own.

I just became a new Mom to 2 adult cats. I was never really a pet person before dating my BF. He has 2 sweet, adorable, loving and funny kitties, I just look at them as part of the package and now love them as if they are my own. I even clean up their poop sometimes! :)

TREAT ME!

My chihuahua mix came from a rescue here in Ontario, but he was actually brought up from Ohio where he was going to be put down. The poor little guy was sick as a dog (no pun intended) and it took some work to nurse him back to health, but now he is a-okay and back to chasing squirrels like he should be!

Treat me!
Growing up, we got our family dog at the SPCA and she was our best friend for many years. Now, my fiance and I can’t wait to get a dog of our own someday and the SPCA is the first place on our list!

Treat me! Almost every pet we’ve had has been a rescue – they’re the best kind, by far!

Treat Me!

We adopted Ruby from a college vet tech program that had rescued her from a bad home when she was 18 months old. She had a bite mark on one of her ears but she has loads of character and is soooooo cute!

TREAT ME!

When I was just a wee tot, my family adopted a stray cat living outside my grandparents’ house in Tennessee. We (really, they) named the little black kitten Memphis, after her hometown. She was always very skittish around humans, so she lived outdoors, but as she got older (and when we moved to Indiana — a land of cold winters), she got sweeter and I became her favorite member of the family.

We had to put her down about 4 years ago, but she is by far my favorite cat ever.

(And don’t worry, Burger, we had a dog too!)

Treat me! I didn’t yell at my mini dachshund (much) when he decided to bark and growl all day because the UPS man drove by. We even went outside to look for the evil delivery dude.

TREAT ME!

When I was 9 years old, we answered an ad in the paper for a free dog, and he turned out to be the the perfect dog for our family. Any pets that we get in the future will be rescue animals.

“TREAT ME”

My neighbors threw out (well, they recycled) their dog’s stainless steel water and food bowls (with stand). They also recyled their cat’s food/water dish with stand. They were brand new ! I took them to local animal shelter. Also, I’ve gotten a ton of free pet food samples and have donated them to the shelter. Another neighbor was getting rid of brand new package of wee wee pads. I took those to the shelter. Amazing how so many people discard brand new things without thinking of bringing to a shelter.

ps – we adopted our loving pooch 14 yrs ago from the shelter.

TREAT ME!!!!
Any dog or cat that has wandered to our house has ended up with a home… even dogs who end up at our friend’s houses too!!

TREAT ME

I adopted our two kittens from a very run down farm waaaaaaaayyyy out in the boonies.

TREAT ME – we recused Fenway (aka Fenny) from a shelter. he had parvo and almost died. now he’s a 40 pound 8 month old healthy puppy who loves to chew everything!

TREAT ME

I have handed down many pet accessories including bowls, treats, and costumes!

Treat me!!

All but one of our pups is rescue – from the Humane Society (2 of them) to finding them on the street (2 of them) our littlest one was found in a dumpster behind a Wendy’s in Kentucky, he was about a year old and he’s 16 now and his dumpster diving days are well behind him…rescues are the best!!

Bubba Roses’Organic Dog Cookbook is fantastic, with so many pooches its cheaper to make the goodies and its better for them too!!

TREAT ME!

Our puppy (my sweet little birthday gift) will be spayed using the local SPCA’s low-cost program. The money they are saving us will head right back to them in the form of a donation.

TREAT ME!

Both of our dogs are rescues! Rusty came to us very malnourished weighing a mere 70 lbs. That sounds like a lot until you see him now at a lean and healthy 90!
Bones chose his name because he was so skinny we lamented that he was just “skin and bones” or just “a bag of bones” and he perked up every time! Apparently he wanted to be named Bones!

TREAT ME!!

My husband and I got our lovely Maya (a 6 months beagle puppy) 4 months ago for a pet store. She was alone in a tiny (believe … tiny) cage, with a big ad that said “ADOPT ME” … the moment we saw that lovely eyes, we fell in love with her.

Some times I pictured her in that tiny cage for two months and I feel sad and in that moment I fall in love with here even more.

Treat Me!

I haven’t had the pleasure of a pet yet, but as soon as we get a yard I imagine thats what we’ll do!

TREAT ME

I like to say I “rescued” my Papillon, Izzy, from a pet store. She was 5 1/2 months old with a severe case of pneumonia (she was the oldest puppy by 1 month). She was 75% off (how awful!!!) and due to be “sent back” in 1 week. So I snatched her up…and today she is a happy, healthy girl (1 collapsed lung and lots of money later!)

TREAT ME!

My parents rescued the sweetest most calm little cocker spanial and my kids are in heaven! They named her LUCKY.

TREAT ME!!! PLEASE!!!!
I live in an appartment complex that dosen’t allow tail waggers. Sad, I know. But, hopefully, after I am married me and my pup-loving fiance will get a little dog to call our own. We are hoping for a girlie dog so maybe you guys could meet one day, Burger? We are in support of any organization that brings justice and love to animals of all kinds!

TREAT ME!

I picked up my adorable puppy-dog, Lizzy at a shelter. She’s a pit bull/boxer/something mix, and she is adorable. She and her siblings, with a total litter of 11, were unceremoniously dropped off at a shelter. When I met the litter, I wanted to take them all home, but, alas, I could only take one. I picked Lizzy because she had these adorable black spots on her nose and her tummy. She was so sweet! Of course, the moment I got her home, she destroyed a pair of flip flops; luckily, she was already in my heart. It was puppy love at first sight.

TREAT ME

I rescued my dog (Karma) from the local shelter who was found tied to a bus stop, with her paws bandaged. After we saw her sweet personality outside of the kennel we decided we had to take her home. We took her to the vet for a health exam and x-rays and discovered THREE severely broken paws and a broken tail. A consultation with an orthopedic surgeon revealed her injuries had started to heal (albeit incorrectly) and surgery would do more harm than good. So the only surgery was her tail tip amputation to remove the necrotic part. We also enrolled in dog sports to keep her mentally and physically happy and socialized. She will probably suffer from arthritis as she gets older so we give her joint supplements daily. We’ll never know what exactly happened to her but she turned out to be the perfect dog for us and couldn’t imagine life without her!

TREAT ME

We got our puppy from a litter of dogs that were all born with hernias, and ours was also the runt of the litter. She didn’t seem desirable to some, but we fell in love with her. The hernia went away, and she is a 4 pound bundle of shih tzu joy!

“TREAT ME”

TREAT ME!

We have 3 rescued dogs. One was locked in a kennel 23 out of 24 hours of every day for 18 months…yeah, she’s a little neurotic! Another came from a shelter on the reservation & was so scared of people she belly crawled for months & wouldn’t make eye contact with you. (oh, and I found twine stitched into her side in a loop…heaven knows what that was for!) And the other was left by his original owners in a hotel room for 3 days without food or water before he came to live with our family. He even made the news…

I’m a sucker for a sad case…and when they come to live with me, they’re treated like royalty :)

TREAT ME

I donate money to our city’s animal shelter

My Rylee was hit by two cars…I took her straight to the Animal Emergency Room…cried and stayed with her all night…drove her to the Animal Hospital the next morning and visited with her favorite treat several times a day for the next two weeks. After a huge bill and lots of love, she was back on her feet a few months later. It was worth every penny and a year later is doing great!!

TREAT ME, please!

Both my dogs are from the shelter. My chihuahua was homeless; he was hit by a car and was found wandering around with open wounds and (sorry this is graphic) some of his insides were out. The Humane Society picked him up and he was fixed up after several surgeries (and a tail amputation). The second I saw his name and picture on their website (his name is Atticus, from To Kill a Mockingbird – my cat’s name is Scout, also from the story), I knew it was meant to be. He is my baby!

TREAT ME

We saved a family of baby bunny rabbits once when I was a kid. It was a great lesson in nature and needing to let go.

TREAT ME

I’ll try to be concise. Pardon the sentence fragments.

1st dog – from Richmond’s southside – a hairless and emaciated Rottie mix. One look in that dog’s eyes and I knew she was meant to be my bff. But she was rough – eye injury, bullet in her leg, mange. Uber-aggressive with men, anyone in a hat, uniform, etc. But I knew she was worth it. I moved to a rental home that would allow dogs JUST so I could keep her. Trained the heck outta her to fix the aggression. It worked. A year later and several doggie opthamologist visits later we had to remove her eye – the injury, caused by trauma. Next year we went to fix her knee, and her entire bone appeared to be riddled with cancer. The orthopedic surgeon swears to this day it was a miracle that it was not malignant. Despite her many injuries and initial aggression, she is my shadow, and is amazing with children and cats. She accepts my foster kittens like they are puppies, cleaning them and letting them try to nurse on her.

Then there’s Merlin, the puppy-turned-Shepherd I found in the same block of RVA a year later. Was an angel from day one, potty trained in a day. I’ll never camp without him again – we’re pretty sure he’s the reason my friends and I weren’t attacked by the man who stalked us during the night on a backpacking trip in the middle of Shenandoah. Not joking. Between his protection and Charlie’s devotion, I’d say I’ve got the two best pups a girl could ask for. But I know I’m biased…

TREAT ME! I always cut up the plastic things attached to cokes, etc. (even at work).

TREAT ME! We rescued our cat Lola. We first fostered the mother who had 4 babies (in our home) and chose our baby girl Lola to keep forever. She is so sweet–we had to bottle feed her (and the other three) the first three weeks because the mother didn’t live through the birth. Very emotional, but they are all loving and very people-friendly!

Our dog, Glacier, came to us from the SPCA. She had been with them for three months, and gave birth to puppies right after arriving. All of her puppies were adopted, but no one was interested in taking her home. But we were! She was totally housebroken when we brought her home, and knew simple commands like sit. The day we brought her home, we ran into one of her puppies at the park near our house! Too fun!

Somehow, we’re a house of animal lovers with no current animals. But we’re planning to rectify that soon by adopting two cats from a local shelter. We feed the squirrels all our leftover seeds (garden, gourd, and otherwise), and last year we brought a bird in distress to a bird rescue centre. I guess that’s not a lot … I can add that I also stop to pet every pooch and kitty that I cross paths with.

We have a rescued retired racing greyhound, Gravy, and they are the calmest, sweetest, most even-tempered dogs. Then we had to rock the boat and get a second dog, Banjo, a rescued coonhound mix who was found as a stray and pulled from a high-kill shelter. Both dogs make me laugh every day!

TREAT ME

Our 5 month old German Shepherd who we love so much, was born with a hernia in his stomach which is pretty dangerous. When we went to go get him, there were 6 or 7 other puppies ready to be taken home too that were in good health, but we got Max and I’m so glad we did. He may have gotten put to sleep for having a health issue that no one would want to deal with.

TREAT ME! We’ve rescued several dogs over the years, many of which were destined for the little doggy place in the sky if someone didn’t take them home.

TREAT ME! We adopted Hunter, a black lab mix, from the Sioux Falls Humane Society almost 4 years ago. He was only 6 months old when we got him but he must have been through a hard time before we got him. He was so scared of everything but he is so much better now that he knows he has a mommy and daddy that love him and will protect him.

I have had to completed community service for high school and college and I always chose the Animal Shelter. When I finally move to a pet friendly apartment, I will adopt from the Animal Shelter.

“TREAT ME” :)

My husband Sean & I adopted our 2 kitties (Sugar & Sweetpea…What’s up with the “FOOD” pet names, LOL!!!) from Heaven Can Wait Animal Society, http://hcws.org/. They’re our kids! Sugar & Sweetpea love to sleep on every bag we bring home, so we’re sure they’ll love these, too!

TREAT ME!
While none of our animals came from a shelter, we got our cat from someone who couldn’t afford the kittens her cat had, and one of our dogs came from a guy who had to give him away since he couldn’t have him in an apartment. They are what makes me laugh everyday! Granted,we have 2 boxers, and they are pure clowns. :)

Two years ago this month I rescued a Chihuahua-Min Pin mix from a neglectful (borderline abusive) home. His previous owner wanted a cute little dog to carry in her purse. Little did she know that his Min-Pin side would result in the biggest Chihuahua ever, standing in at 12 inches tall (at the shoulder) and weighing 11lbs (now that we’ve feed him up and you can’t see his ribs, shoulders, and hip bones protruding).

He was two at the time, had never had any shots and didn’t know his name. After a year of chronic ear infections and weekly vet visits, his food allergies have been identified, he’s happy, healthy and the most expensive free dog I’ve ever had. My sister named him Rat for me, but he also answers to Little.

He now spends his days wrestling with my other dog, Thor, a shelter dog I adopted as a puppy four years ago. Thor’s weighs in at 55lbs and is an American Brown Dog, AKA a mutt.

They are joined by my thirteen year old cat, Zoe, who despite her age can still beat both of them.

TREAT ME!! Thanks burger! :)

We have two fur babies, of the kitty-cat variety (a russian blue and a bengal with tabby coloring). Both were rescued as kittens from the county shelter about a year and a half ago. We found them using Petfinder.com (a fabulous online resource which I highly recommend!) Although they were not sisters by birth, my little girls are sisters now. They are quite a handful but I love them dearly.

we rescued our dog gypsy! she was perfect from the minute we saw her.
gypsy and i have had the honor of being on the cover of our local humane society’s annual dog walk! yay for dogs!

My husband had a cat for 20 years, and recently she died (this past summer). It was really hard on my husband. I decided to stay home from work to be with him and dig our Kitty a proper resting place. I think it meant a lot to my hubby and also for Kitty.

Treat Me! I adopted my first dog at the ASPCA. He was a mere 8 weeks old and had been picked up only two weeks prior living on his own near a trash can. He was the cutest, shy little thing and the shelter had named him Spike!

We have 2 pound cats that are 8 and 6 years old. We got them when they were kittens. Our kids love them!

TREAT ME!!! I’m a huge animal lover and my husband and I have adopted 3 cats over the past few years from shelters. We still have 2 (1 died- sigh) but we are absolutely enjoying and loving our other 2 cats. :) It feels so good to help out some furry little friends :)

Treat me. We have 2 Shiz tzu’s and a rescue King Charles Cavalier. Oliver, Ruby, and Winston. Next to our grandchildren, they are our babies.

TREAT ME Burger!!!
No big sappy story here, my bro and I both came from private breeders. But Mom and Dad got us at a family-owned establishment where they try to sell puppies that the breeders haven’t sold on their own. They were super nice, we go visit sometimes. Mom picked me because I had been there a while and it seemed folks didn’t like that I was an older puppy. It all worked out great for our family…yea, Mom knows where it’s at!

TREAT ME, please!

We haven’t rescued a pet, but we are looking into adopting a dog from a local dog rescue program.

:)

TREAT ME!!

Once while shopping for homes, my boyfriend and I happened upon an emaciated pit bull who had been left or forgotten during a foreclosure. We brought him home and fattened him up, and since our city has laws against letting pit bulls in animal shelters, we found him a beautiful home on a farm in Clarksville, TN.

I adopted Layla (my black lab) from the SPCA three years ago. Her tail was missing…we’re not sure if she was born with out one, or if it was abuse. Her tongue also has black spots all over it. Her weird idiosyncrisies made her so much more adopt-worthy :)

TREAT ME!

We have a Chihuahua named Archie who came from Small Dog Rescue of MN. His mom was rescued from a puppy mill and was so skinny they didn’t know she was pregnant. Archie is a total crack up and now he works with us to end puppy mills!

TREAT ME

I have rescued everyone of my furbabies. One of them, a kitty I named Phoenix, was actually picked up from a dumpster behind a hotel in Tempe, AR. She is fat, happy, and kickin’ it in Burbank with my old roommates.

TREAT ME

My daughter saved a teeny tiny kitten from being put down (literally, it was scheduled for 15 minutes after she adopted it). My resued dog, Kodiak, adopted the little furball, named Fawkes, and they just adore each other – the cat thinks that she is a dog, though…

TREAT ME!

I technically have not directly saved an animal, but growing up on a farm, my family has taken in many strays. I guess I did raise some kittens after their mom died when I was younger, so that counts. My dad has taken in many stray dogs and also a rabbit and two baby raccoons who lost their mother. We just kept the wild animals until they were ready to survive on their own.

Treat me! Thank you!

TREAT ME!

All of my family pets have been rescued. Honestly, adopted pets are the bomb!

Treat Me!

Both of our cats are rescues. Muffin’s mom was a pregnant stray that a friend of a friend found and Brooke came from a shelter after being rescued from the streets of Allston.

TREAT ME!

We’re getting a dog soon and it will definitely be a rescue.

TREAT ME! Every pet I have ever had (totals up to about 10 of them over the years) has been found or given to me. I actually have never officially adopted a pet, they just end up finding me! I have never purchased a pet, and still don’t understand why people do when there are so many adorable pets out there that need a home.

TREAT ME!

My 3 dacshunds and I love your blog!

I just rescued a beautiful cat from the Charlotte airport, and though I was unable to locate her owners, I was able to find her a loving home.

Treat Me!

We’ve rescued four cats (two from Humane Society, one from a no-kill foster/shelter, one from the streets), one of whom now has diabetes and Cushing’s Disease (and it’s cost a LOT to treat him – but we love him). Not only that, but we’ve had ten ferals spayed (one neutered), and took care of the colony for a couple of years. It was so sad to leave them, although they are still completely feral.

TREAT ME! I got my dog Charlie from the Humane Society. He was rescued from a mall pet store before that, and he must have had a really bad experience there because he’s still scared of almost everyone. Now he’s like my baby :)

TREAT ME!

I have 2 cats that my husband actually rescued from the woods near our old apartment 10 years ago!

TREAT ME Please!!!!

TREAT ME!

Brujita, Stubby, Shadow and Tippy are all rescue kitties… they have provided their human owners with many fun times over the years, and Stubby as the latest addition at just a little over a year old is certainly sparking some life into the 10, 9 and 7 year olds in the house. Between chasing them, playing with them, and not letting them get the proper amount of required daily catnaps he is busy knocking stuff off his momma’s computer desk. With four furry felines that have a hankering for treats, canned and dry cat food these bags would sure come in handy and look pretty too!

TREAT ME

all the dogs I had as a little girl were rescue dogs…my sister is fondly known as the Crazy Dog Lady and has 6 rescue dogs…My husband and I are looking forward to the day when we can adopt a rescue dog–they’re the best!

I live in a house with 2 people and 3 other furry friends. I was brought home by my dad last summer and named Hey Jude. I am all black and a little hefty right now. I was at the cat Dr and my mom saw three little black kittens awaiting adoption. She took a pic and sent it to my dad who asked “how many do you want?”. I was lucky enough to be chosen by mom and dad and I am now Sgt. Pepper, living in a great house with Boxster, the tabby, Gilmore, the Siamese, and Hey Jude. We had a dog named Max until this summer when he got sick. He loved cats and we miss him. You rock, Burger!!
