Treats: Enviro-Pouches For Pooches

***This treat isn’t taking entries anymore. Sorry people.***

I hear you people-y types like free things – so here goes nothing (though I highly recommend being a dog, we don’t pay for anything).

Bags can be bad, like when we are shoved in them. Bags can also be good, like when you clean up after us with them. But when Rocco’s mom over at Envirosax told us about their promotion with the ASPCA this month, I realized that bags can be really good.

Not just because they’re reusable, but because Envirosax is donating $1 for every pouch sold in November to the ASPCA to help pets who aren’t as lucky and Rocco and me.

So Rocco and his momma wanted to spread the word by letting me give a free pouch (that’s 5 whole bags!) to THREE different animal lovers out there, kinda like my parents did a few months ago on their blog. And since they’ve already got this giveaway thing down, I recruited them to help me with this next part…

I follow the same giveaway policies as my parents, so get more info on their Giveaway FAQs page. Images courtesy of Envirosax.

treat me!

we adopted our pet rabbit when her old owners decided they had had enough of her (she’s very large and excitable for a rabbit).

Treat Me

My husband and I have 2 four-legged children. Blue healer, who we rescued in Missouri and a Golden retriever who is now a therapy dog that goes to nursing homes in the area.

“TREAT ME”
Growing up we took in any stray cat that came our way. They had to stay in the barn but it was like cat heaven. Blankets, food, water and mice to chase!

TREAT ME
I rescued my doggie oakley (a greyhound mix) when he was 14 weeks old from a shelter in FL. He was on the kill list for the next morning.. it breaks my heart thinking he might not have ever had a family!

TREAT ME!

TREAT ME!

Both of my furbabies were rescued from the pound. Maple was a rolly polly puppy when my husband and I got her. About a year later, we got our second dog, Sadie, from the same pound. Sadie had been taken away from her previous owners because they went out of town and left her (a 6 month old puppy!) in their back yard with no food, water, or shelter (It was 15 degrees!). Sadie is a bit neurotic, but she is the most loving dog ever!

Treat Me!

I’ve worked with Boxer and Chihuahua rescues before and found it really rewarding. I also worked as a vet tech for years and rescued lots of animals through that job. I miss those days!

Treat me.

I rescue my dog from starvation daily…he is a beagle and frequently thinks he is dieing of starvation.

TREAT ME
we ended up taking a very old 12 year old dog…because her owner couldn’t keep her anymore….lotsa work…

“TREAT ME”

We rescued our black cat who was a stray living outside in the cold Minneasota winter!

Treat me!

My husband and I fostered a dog and her 9 (!!) puppies. We started taking care of them when they were 2 weeks old and of course we fell in love with all of the puppies. BUT, the husband would only let me keep one and that’s how we got our cute doggie that looks like a teddy bear, Bindi. At some point we’ll get another dog (or possibly a cat?) and will rescue it from a shelter.

TREAT ME
We are a family of rescuers. My husband and I got three of our four cats from stray litters. My two daughters have rescued four cats from local shelters. They also have rescued three dogs; two from animal shelters (Collie/Lab mix, Sheltie mix)and one from a private rescue (Australian Shepherd/Border Collie mix). Also, our youngest daugther worked for two years as a veterinary assistant. During her time there, a six week old kitten was brought into the office that had suffered brain damage from a pallet falling on it in a warehouse. It was going to have to live its life in a cage at the vet’s, as the kitten went wild and bit anyone who tried to work with it. My daughter decided to give that kitten a real home, named her Gracie, and took her home with her. She gives Gracie anti-seizure medicine daily. She cannot jump up on anything and falls over a lot due to neurological damage. But she has fattened up living in this less stressful atmosphere and now allows people to hold her and pet her for short periods before she starts a low growl, letting you know she has had enough. Gracie is an example of how living in a loving home can help an animal reach its potential.

We adopted Uli from a family who couldn’t care for her anymore. She’s been a welcome addition to our family.

TREAT ME

I carry dog biscuits in my pocket or purse and give them to the local dogs I meet. It’s kind of an odd thing to do, but every dog likes a treat and will come and say hi.

TREAT ME! These bags are on my Christmas list, although it would be great to cross them off and use them early!

Treat me!

All 3 of our pets are rescues. I worked at a humane society, so it was very easy to fall in love with many and want to bring them home! Luckily I only ended up with 2 cats (I don’t want to be a crazy cat lady). Our newest pet is a 2 year old German Shepherd. She is a rescue with papers! If you want a certain breed you don’t have to go to a breeder- search rescues or humane societies.
Our shepherd is from a k9 trainer- she didn’t pass the test to be a k9. But she came to us fully trained (bonus!) and a great family dog.

TREAT ME

We don’t have pets yet but maybe in the near future! We would definitely visit the shelter near us, I work for the county and get to see firsthand how amazing the volunteers there are. Many of them take home multiple cats and foster them, in addition to their daily duties working at the shelter!

Treat me! I do not have any adopted pets, but I did live with an adopted cat for a year and boy was she awesome! Sweetest. Cat. Ever. But I’m sure you’re much sweeter, Burger :)

“treat me” I just accidentally lost the reusable tote I always keep on hand and i long for envirosax!!

TREAT ME

My hubby and I rescued a dog we found at a gas station who was shaking and starving and maybe a year old if that. He was a big lab mix and we already had two dogs to care for so we drove 250 miles to the closest no-kill rescue center and dropped him off for a loving family to adopt him.

treat me!

All of our pets have been rescued strays.
We would do it no other way!!

Treat Me!

Both our pit bulls are rescues, but not from shelters.
Our first baby, Gidget, came from a cage in some guys backyard out in the country who “bred” them. My brother-in-law traded some home-made whiskey for her(classy guy) when she was 9 weeks old.
Dozer, our newest familial acquisition was “free to a good home” on Craigslist. He has separation anxiety and is male dog aggressive. They did not tell us this when we went to see him and anyone else may have simple euthanized him after all we have dealt with.

Treat me!!

My husband saw a stupid crow attacking a beautiful blue jay while we were on a walk and he chases the crow away. He then helped the blue jay recover from it’s injury. It was so heroic!

TREAT ME

my cat was sortof a rescue. we got her from a family who has a stray cat give birth to a litter under their deck – so we picked her out to save her from going to an animal shelter, or becoming a stray herself.

Treat me!

My husband and I rescued our dog from our neighbors who ignored him and rarely fed him. No we didn’t steal him, but we did talk to them and said we would be willing to take him if they didn’t want him anymore. Eventually 6 months later they gave him to us (they lost their house and had to move to an appt w/no pets). But our Oso (spanish for Bear we were told) is a very happy dog these days.

TREAT ME! No pets, but I LOVE Envirosax and would be thrilled to win this giveaway! My husband had a Wheaten while growing up and maybe someday we’ll have a) less stressful jobs, b) more time for a pet and c) a bigger apartment or house to give said pet some space to run around. I’m partial to Wheatens and Havanese because they’re smaller and shed less than Labs and golden Retrievers, which are also wonderful dogs.

TREAT ME! My daughter recently rescued a 6 month old puppy named Buddy. Buddy had been given to an elderly, single woman for companionship. However, the woman was diagnosed with cancer and could no longer care for Buddy so a new home had to be found. Recently, my daughter had to have her 19 yr. old cat put to sleep. She was heartbroken from her loss. A friend suggeted she consider taking Buddy. Having never had a dog, she was apprehensive but decided to give it a try rather than have Buddy taken to the pound. After 2 weeks I can say, it is a match made in heaven. Buddy is a wonderful companion and has found the home of his dreams! Sandra Bullock said, “You haven’t lived until you own a pet.” My daughter has come back to life thanks to Buddy!

Treat Me!

We just recently rescued and placed a puppy who got dumped at a gas station, but we’ve rescued several times before. My first 2 dogs were from the local humane shelter, and my cat is another local rescue animal. He was a 4 week old, flea ridden mess of a furball when we got him, but he’s now a healthy 1 1/2 year old big, fluffy, lazy cat. Hurray for saving animal lives!!!!

Treat Me!!

Growing up we always rescued dogs from the pound. It was how we rolled. The last dogs my parents adopted were from a friend who bred them. Both of them have tons of health issues because the “friend” apparently inbred them. Soo…when I get to a place I can have a pet of my own, a rescue will be the way to go.

TREAT ME

I go walk and play with dogs at the animal shelter. I just love dogs!

TREAT ME!
Jaeger, our white German Shepherd, is not a rescued pet, but he is an awesome Search and Rescue canine who loves nothing more than to find lost hikers in the Sierras. Well perhaps he loves fetching sticks and tennis balls equally as well…

TREAT ME!

Treat me! :)

TREAT ME!! I recently volunteered at place I had my puppy spayed. They were just so nice there and give discounts to people who are low income.

Treat me!

Today on my walk I found a loose dog and I returned him to his happy owner.

TREAT ME!! My current cat, Mulligan, I rescued from the Humane Society. I named her Mulligan because I’m a huge golfer and in golf a mulligan pretty much gives you a scond change – which is what I was doing for my kitty’s life!! :)

Treat Me!

Treat me. We rescued a mutt (lab, german s., great dane, grey hound mix o_O) from Louisiana. He is the bestest. I highly recommend adopting. It is so rewarding. Boo to pet stores.

TREAT ME! :)

If I had the space/was allowed to have a pet, I would adopt a whole bunch of dogs.

Treat me!

I got my dog Jasper P Coltraine from a shelter 8 years ago. At first he looked really scared and kinda sick. He didn’t want me to pet him. But when I offered him a treat, he not only let me pet, he jumped into my arms. How could I resist?

TREAT ME! Unfortunately, I don’t have any animals due to the travel requirements of my job. (Even fish are not safe at my house.) But my best friend quit her “real” job as a teacher and has started a resue shelter in our hometown. I didn’t know how many animals in the area were in such terrible conditions until she started this rescue service. She amazes me with how much she loves these animals. She has seen some very horrific situations and she (and her network of foster homes) have helped and loved these animals. And she and her family have created this with very little financial support from outside groups and have given up a lot of things to help these animals.

Treat Me! All of my cats and dogs have been rescues….it is the only way to go!!

TREAT ME! I have a rescued great dane.

“Treat Me” I rescued the cutest little kitten while visting my sister-in-law. She was on craigslist and even the pictures showed that she was not in the best home. Since them she and her sister who was adopted by my sister-in-law live happily as spoiled little cats~

TREAT ME!

I rescued my cat (she was a stray) from the mean streets of Pittsburgh on the coldest, rainiest night in November. I have had her for 7 years and she is wonderful.

Treat Me!

Our dog, Zeus, is a rescue from an ASPCA in Harrisonburg, Va and our cat, Alton, is a rescue from Richmond Animal League.

“TREAT ME”

My husband and I rescued our golden mix from a local shelter here. We don’t know what we’d do with out our crazy mutt Sammy.
