Cuties! Take them home!

When Mary wrote to me (even though she’s a human) I just had to share her letter. Everyone knows I get teary eyed just thinking about dogs in need, and she was reaching out to spread the word about some very special four-leggers in need of a happy home. I just love playing pooch & person matchmaker. Anyway, here’s her letter:

My pups and I love reading your blog (and your mom and dad’s blog) and we wanted to let you know about some dogs in need in the VA area! We live in Northern Virginia and foster dogs with HART (Homeless Animal Rescue Team) and they got in over 30 dogs from a puppy mill this week and need lots of help to find them homes. Some are young (Cockers, Jack Russell Terriers, Bulldogs, etc) and some are older and are very scared. Check out their website here. In addition to these puppy mill dogs, HART took in their normal number from high kill shelters in the area. The more dogs that are adopted this week, the more we can save next week! Here are the details on our adoption events this weekend:

Check out these pictures too! They’re definitely cute. Thanks! -Mary

They most certainly are cute! Hey ladies, I’ll share my treats with you anytime…

Let’s get these Virginia dogs adopted. Go give your parents those big saucer eyes I talked about here. Save the pooches!

Burger,

Thanks so much for posting!! I also found out that another rescue, A Forever Home Rescue Foundation, took in a lot of dogs from the same puppy mill this week (111 dogs total!!). They are holding their adoption event for the same type of dogs (including maltese and yorkies) on Sunday from 1 to 4 at the Greenbriar Petco in Chantilly. Check out their website: http://www.aforeverhome.org/

Thank you!
Mary

Thanks Mary! Good to know!

Oh my gosh! I have such a hard time reading these posts and seeing the pictures… I just want to adopt them all. And I’m sure Ries would loooove a little sister or brother. Unfortunately we can’t get another dog right now, and I’m not in Virginia, but I don’t know how anyone there with the means could resist them- one look and they’re stealing my heart!

Oh, and the link to HART from the post isn’t working…

That’s what comes up, just so you know.

OH MA GAH the schnauzers! I can’t handle it. I want another one so bad. MUST RESIST.

Wow, I wish I lived in Virginia and was not as far out as AZ. The little schnauzer in the middle looks exactly like my dog Nemo. I’d take him home in a heartbeat if only I lived closer. Guess, that’s a good thing for my 2 dogs and husband that already compete for my attention!

I’m going to post a link to the organization on my FB page since I know so many people in NOVA.

I just read the recap on HART’s webiste about the condition of the dogs. It makes me angry and sick that the epidemic of puppy mills still persists…praying that there is justice and the people who ran this one are prosecuted to the fullest extent!

Oh Burger, this makes me so sad. My own Izzy is a former puppy mill mom and it just kills me to think of other dogs and pups in this position. Thank you for being an advocate of sorts and posting information like this.

I love HART!! I adopted my dog from them 2 years ago!!
