Who Thought This Was A Good Idea?

First of all, who in the world designs knitted holiday sweaters for dogs? Do cats? Because that’s the only explanation I can come up with.

Aww poor Burger! The things we do to our dogs :)

Awww, Burger, ya look so nice. Be proud of the svelte figure. I’ve been looking for something that could actually fit my lab/retriever mix and no one seems to make sweaters for large girls. You look handsome and cozy.

Cuteness overload! OMG! I wish our doxie would wear sweaters so he wouldn’t shiver so much outside. He will tolerate it for short periods, but really hates it.

Burger, you look handsome!

Very cute — looks like you’re about to go skiing. ;)
But seriously, was it cold enough in Virginia to warrant a sweater last week??

It was freezing! I’m no Al Roker, but I would guess it was negative thirty degrees out. Ok I have no idea what that means, but it was chilly. It’s debatable whether freezing my buns off would have been less embarrassing than wearing the darn sweater though…

Now that Burger finally has his own blog I think it is high time I present my fantastic idea! I think Burger needs to host a sort of “Bachelor-esque” competition as he looks for his soul mate! We have a superior candidate over here at Made2Create! Her name is Dolly (named after the GREAT Dolly Parton). You can imagine how flattering her figure must be considering her namesake! Dolly says, “Burger, you know you want me!” (cue “Pitbull” song)!

Dolly girl, I’m so in. I’ll do a post calling all chicas and I’ll play the role of the Bachelor. Let’s get this show on the road! Uh oh, does that mean I have to propose at the end? I might just get four cold feet…

Handsome devil. Be proud and wear that knit with confidence!

Hey Burgs – you look adorable in your sweater vest! I just posted about our crazy puppy – wish she was as well-behaved, well-dressed and together as you! I guess we’ll all just have to wait until Mattel creates a toy Burger so we can all have our own!

Oh Burger, you look so presh.

Hmm, all these complements could go to a dog’s head. Maybe the sweater’s not so bad after all…

Do you tweet, Burger? You definitely should!

Too cute! I’ll take one people-sized.

Nevermind, just found it on the sidebar!

A burger with no buns! That just wouldn’t be right… (no freezing your buns off!)

You’re a stud Burger!

haha aww poor Burger! Tell your mama to get you a tasteful ski vest instead ;)

ARF! Hi Burger, my people don’t put me in sweaters and I shiver sometimes when it takes me too long to do my business outside. I have to admit, I’m a little jealous that you’re already ready for all those holiday sweater parties! I love parties! There is so much food and people are usually distracted so I can sneak some away. yummmmm.

How do you feel about bigger women? I’m probably twice your size, but my people always tell me what a sweetie I am. I’m really pretty too and I have all my shots. Think about it ;)

Hey Val, you sound like a real sweetie. And the fact that you have all your shots is the icing on the cake. I’m no stranger to bigger women (at my size nearly every pup is bigger) and I’d be happy to show you a good time. Maybe we’ll run into each other sneaking food at a party one of these days…

Burgs, you crack me up! Glad you finally have your own blog…it is about time!

Hey Burger,
Just wanted to let you know that there are a few broken links in the FAQ section. Looks like the paths are right but the URLs are pointing to this site instead of the YHL site. Also my crazy dog Murphy wanted to say hi. He is just a little bit bigger than you, but he loves other dogs (all sizes) and wants to be your friend. Nice site, by the way. :)

Some Murphy-related blog posts: http://chateauwhitman.blogspot.com/search/label/murphy

Thanks Kristi! That’s what you get when you let humans do your dirty work. Off to clean up their mistakes…

Oh and hi to Murphy!

You complain now, but you know you were toasty-warm on your walk. My fur-baby, Rudy, complains until we get outside, and then he loves being warm while we walk.

My chihuahua will not wear a sweater. She slips out of it on the way out of the dog door or one leg comes out and she hobbles around. We bought her a little jacket with velcro and stuff thinking she couldn’t get it off but when we left her alone we came back to a shredded jacket in the backyard. It’s totally funny how we’ve learned we can’t help the fact that she likes to run around in the nude.

In the nude huh? Your chihuahua sounds like a girl after my own heart.

I agree Burger…I’m not big on dogs in clothes. But you do seem to be lacking a little in the shaggy coat to keep you warm department, so maybe the sweater isn’t such a bad thing if you are out for a walk. I’m glad to see you aren’t freaking out as much about the sweater as you previously did the skeleton outfit. Kudos for anger management! :)

Burger — you’re such a womanizer!! Aren’t you neutered? I would think that would keep all these many doggy hormones in check.
I guess it’s not all your fault though… there’s so many puppy girls throwing themselves at you in these comments!

Burger-I’m so sorry you’re going through this trauma! hehe… Our little Cav LOVES her clothes! It’s definitely gotten cold enough for her to enjoy them again, too. Just yesterday her daddy held up a new sweater for her and she got SO excited and stuck her head into it like she wanted get dressed all by herself. :-) I’m sure your mommy and daddy just think you’ll get cold with the rough VA weather (it’s been so rainy this week!)

Love the blog Burger!!!! Its fantastic :)

Burger, I feel your pain. My mom makes me wear a varsity sweatshirt outside (IN PUBLIC!) because she says my short chihuahua fur isn’t long enough to keep me warm. Stay strong, brother!

Bogart and Burger. I like it. Maybe we’ll have a TV series someday. And we’ll be in charge of wardrobe.

Burger, sounds like a plan – Chis in the City maybe?

Sold. Now we just need a good dog agent. I don’t trust those sneaky feline ones.

Poor little guy! I would suggest a superman cape for the future. :)

more fodder for your lawsuit buddy…

hahaha burger youre the cutest dog ever! I love your knitted sweater. My hubbie wants a chihuahua because of you!

Love the sweater Burger! Stay warm this winter!

YAY! I love Burger’s new blog!! He is so darn cute! I am obsessed with little Burger!

Hysterical!!!! We just saw a totally mortified Peekapoo at PesMart today in a denim skirt, at least you’re a boy and it’s just a sweater……seriously it could be worse!!!

Burgs, yo, I feel ya. My humans attempted to put one of these monstrosities one me this week too. However, they bought x-small sweaters and I’m too hunky for those. They put it over my head and got one of my legs in before giving up, so I was spared this week. But, I’ve heard my Mom say something about a shopping trip this weekend….
::covers eyes with paw::

You guys sure know how to put things into perspective. At least mom and dad haven’t mentioned any shopping trips lately. And Lisa, you’re right… a denim skirt is downright horrifying.

Burger, I am 100% with you on the sweater thing. No way anyone is getting me into one of those! When I was a puppy my mom tried to put me in a girly pink sweater and I shredded it. But my sister, in an effort to be the cutest and win favor with our parents, wears all sorts of stuff – sweaters, t shirts, she even has a pink puffy dog parka. Ugh!

Oh no! Sweaters are so cute! How can you be embarrassed? You look like such an awesome dog! If I had thumbs, I would knit holiday sweaters for all my dog friends.

Thanks Alice and Lucy! Even though you’re on opposite sides of the dogs-in-sweaters debate I love you both- and you’re both mighty cute I might add. I’d sniff you both in a heartbeat.

LOL, poor Burger…. but he looks so cute!

I love that the pattern of the blog wallpaper matches the (chair? cushion?) behind Burger and also reminds me of the pattern of your master bed quilt.

Oops… I stand corrected! You’ve already addressed what it is in your FAQ. You guys (umm… I mean Burger….) really do think of everything!

yay, go burger! i’m so happy you finally have your own “crib” here online. i’m excited to see more of you! :) xo- Q

It is WAY too early to be wearing Christmas sweaters… thankfully we haven’t yet been forced into sweaters, but the halloween costumes are probably coming soon.
