Help These Pooches!
When I started Hamburger’s House I knew I wanted to use it to share photos of my handsome mug and gain fame and fortune beyond my wildest dreams. But I also wanted to use my powers for good and hopefully help some fellow four-leggers out there in the world when I can. And it appears as if spreading this info just might accomplish that goal so here it goes:
Camp Wolfgang, a reputable German Shepherd Rescue in Ennis, Texas, is closing down because of financial issues on October 31, 2009. They have nearly 200 adoptable dogs, who are healthy, friendly, vetted, spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, and well cared for. Many have had training. All dogs must be placed prior to October 31 (they don’t want to euthanize dogs who remain after October 31, but it appears this will be their only option).
Somebody help them! I’m getting all teary eyed over here.

They’re asking rescue organizations to take any dogs that they can (for free) and any individuals who are willing to adopt or foster to pay a $75 fee. They currently have approximately 120 PB German Shepherds, 2 Akitas, 1 Anatolian/Great Pyrenees, 4 Purebred Rottweilers, 1 Great Dane/Lab, 1 Boxer/Mastiff, 1 St. Bernard/Akita, and 45 other mixed breeds. Time is of the essence! If you know anyone who can adopt, accept a dog into their rescue, or help in any way, call Neisha Livengood at this number: 214-755-1627.
Thanks so much for spreading the word about this guys (both humans and pups alike). Here’s hoping we can pass this along and hopefully save those pups! Anyone in the Dallas area who might just take one home?
UPDATE: Oh happy day! It appears that all of the remaining dogs have been adopted or rescued! Whew. And don’t tell anybody I cried, ok?
Psst- Thanks for all the amazing entries to my little Bachelor competition yesterday. Can you believe I received over 100 submissions? I can. Anyway, now I have to sort through them and pick some semi-finalists. It’s a tough job but somebody’s gotta do it. Stay tuned to see which pups I pick this coming week…

I just called and she has an outgoing message that every dog made it to another rescue! Woo hoo. Whew. I was going to get all crazy and consider driving down there.
Molly, that’s such great news! We have a German Shepherd that we got from a German Shepherd rescue group out here in San Diego and it broke my heart to read this story, but it sounds like a happy ending!!
My little tail is wagging over here. I’m so excited about the grrrrrreat news! Power to the pooches.
I was going to send this off to my German Shepherd-loving friend but then saw the update that all of the dogs had been adopted – what a relief! Hamlet came from a rescue so he sure was worried about the pooches finding homes.
Please continue to help dogs find homes! There are so many in shelters that just need a family to love. If you do posts like this more often, I would read every day!!!! Please keep up the GOOD work.
All in a day’s work Melisa. I definitely plan to keep spotlighting dogs that need good homes. Stay tuned…
Mabe you could have a weekly dog spotlight and highlight a dog in serious need of a good home. Maybe one of the dogs in the NC gassing kill shelters. I know it sounds horrible but you could find them homes!
That’s exactly what I have in mind! I already have a number of emails about pooches who need help so I’ll be sharing that info on the regular.
xo,

Wow, I am so glad you got wind of this too! I am from Texas and got this email about the rescue and sent it out to everyone in hopes of it helping! It broke my heart, but sounds like everything is okay?!
Thanks Burger for getting the word out!

Do you know if she’s been in touch with Rolling Rescue, or North Shore or Bideawee here in New York?
